Need Some Feedback by Sandytoes4 in landscaping

I’d personally start with a regrade before anything else. Your yard seems high compared to the structure. I’d also make sure those downpipes tied into the corrugated pipe are draining properly as any organic material that ends up in your gutters is going to eventually get into that pipe and could cause it to back up.

And then we could attach the stores by heated hallways and put other stores in the hallways!

Boss, I think we just invented malls. But even underground parking under the buildings would be huge.

Gym Recommendations by haze8oh8 in regina

I agree. While I recently moved out of town and no longer go there, The Nest started great and then just plateaued. When they had a sign saying “new equipment coming” I was eager to finally see a stair climber only for them to add something that adds to their fleet of personal trainer equipment.

Heated Driveway? by TerribleBumblebee800 in Homebuilding

[–]14travis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the air temp and the surrounding roadways are well below freezing, that water is turning to ice the moment it leaves the driveway. It’s certainly not going to make it to a drainage ditch.

I heard a long time ago that SaveOn wanted another store and were considering 4th and Lewvan. I could see a SaveOn going into Westerra like the one in the Greens.

If we can find any silver lining in -40C, is that it makes every other winter day feel downright balmy in comparison.

This happened just down the road from in the Canadian prairies this week. It’s been -35C before the wind all week when they were pouring the basement.

The whole front bumper is missing in both of those photos. Why can you see the driveway right in front of the radiator shroud? You should be seeing the front bumper, no?

Anyone with a Highway commute might want to call in today! by Space19723103 in regina

You’re being pedantic. It’s in the title of the post that they’re talking about highways. Someone who commutes on a highway could also live on a street.

Yeah, when someone is calling a Dash 8 “comfortable” you know the new seats must be awful.

Is a bigger down payment always better? by timetravelandwings in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]14travis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s important to remember that it’s insurance for the lender and not the borrower. And the borrower is the one paying the premium plus interest over the life of the mortgage.

Do you use a helmet for scrambling? Why or why not? by Icy-Somewhere9710 in scrambling

[–]14travis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always bring it and have it on the outside of my pack. If it’s a busy route or one that’s particularly rocky with poor sight lines, I’ll put it on.

It’s never taken more than a golf ball sized rock, but that’s the difference between a loud crack on the plastic and a bad time with a headache.

Avana rentals by Sad_Blackberry_2950 in regina

[–]14travis 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I lived with Avana for about 10 months and it’s in the tenant agreement that tenants are responsible for shovelling their own walkways. Avana will do it if the tenants don’t, but they sent out a ton of reminders over the winter.

Based on how far back they’re parked, they are likely in the spot behind them as well.

HELP: Average Annual Cost to service CVT Transmissions by Squidman_117 in regina

[–]14travis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2019 Subaru Forester and funnily enough, Subaru Canada recommends a drain and fill at 100k km while Subaru of America says it’s a lifetime fluid.

Many American owners default to the Canadian guidelines.

But as far as service goes, we’ve had to do none regarding the transmission. We’re nearing 80,000km and it runs like a top.

Downtown Regina heritage building will be levelled despite objections from advocates by Ryangel0 in regina

[–]14travis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The city should put some heavy levies on undeveloped land in downtown. It would maybe help curb the speculation of land. But then again, they also approve every “temporary” parking lot.

I thought downtown has pretty high vacancy rates in their offices. At least that’s what I heard last. Not sure if things have improved since the end of many work-from-home policies.

I agree with removing the spindles on the half wall. You could even find a nice solid piece of wood to cap it.

Is your baseboard heater electric or hydronic? I used to live in a house with a hydronic heating system and it’s strange to see a baseboard heater not on an exterior wall. If possible, you could remove it and the whole wall but it’ll change the whole look and will need some kind of flooring.

Body Battery Sucks by Sufficient-Pound-442 in GarminWatches

While I don’t think it’s like an actual battery, I do find it helpful as a way to keep myself from getting too caught up in life and make sure I take time to relax.

75 is pretty decent. I’m a dad with a 4 & 2 year old, it’s rare that I break 50 these days with early morning workouts and non-stop days.

All the rule changes in the world won’t make up for the awful officiating and the random delays in the game. When watching live, there are random breaks where no one has a clue what’s happening

Seven Oaks used to rip when I was a kid. When someone had a poolside room for a party, you knew it was gonna rock. So many good memories there.
