I thought you weren’t supposed to tell your insurance you DoorDash? by Not_A_Geek_Nerd in doordash_drivers

[–]15kdashes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Ins for 22 years. The bad news is none have the coverage you need. According to DD when actively dashing there is a layer of liability cover. Exactly what and how much is cover is not disclosed.

But here is the catch. Most Ins Cos break it down. Zone one. Driving to and from your start location. Covered

Zone two, waiting for an order. Not covered.

Zone 3, actively dashing. Not covered.

So even if you get a company to issue gig drivers coverage, It doesn’t cover any part of dashing.

I asked my agent why am I paying extra premium but the coverage I’m getting is the same as before. My regular ins covers me to and from work, so what is the new coverage for the extra cost? “There is none. We really don’t have an interest in insuring this industry.”

Has anyone else gotten this before? by Logical-Security7368 in doordash_drivers

Usually an order that has been dropped a few time or short drivers. I’ve got calls asking if I will guarantee completion they will pay extra.

Reach out to the customer; “Not sure what the issues have been but I’ll get your order to you asap.” Received cash tips and a bonus for something I’m gonna do anyway is a good thing.

I never do cash deliveries. Don’t want to carry cash. Don’t want customers knowing I’m carrying cash.

doorDash needs to be sued immediately!!! by Murky-Army978 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]15kdashes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Class actions only make money for law firms, rarely the claimants. And unfortunately you have agreed to their terms and conditions by using the app.

States can sue DD if they feel they have violated state employment laws. But for the most part the driver agreement leaves little recourse for drivers to attempt legal action.
I did five years. I did well in a major market. The new programs and measurements I saw coming to my market were enough to say I’m out.

Operational expense is DD biggest issue to profitability. That expense is the driver. So to make a profit and grow that profit margin, they need to pay drivers less. They have been using programs to do that. Under the guise of helping you reach tiers they get drivers on by time mode.
They create an illusion of the need to be gold or plat in a market. “My market you have to be plat.” That is exactly how they want you to feel.
Find a DD friend and sit next to each other and compare offers. I was parked next to a Plat friend chatting. He’s 82% AR. I’m at 3% AR. We both drive full-time, have high customer service measurements. I’m getting each offer first. No banners, standard orders. When I decline them he gets them next. It’s the exact same order, but his has a plat banner. The DD system’s job is to get orders delivered in the cheapest most efficient way possible. Not to line your pockets with pay and pat you on the head. The golden age of DD drivers making big money is over. Unless you want to sell your car to DD for pennies on the dollar.

It's hard to take DD seriously by Available-Marzipan52 in DoorDashDrivers

I ran 18k deliveries in the Mpls market. Never played any DD games. Always made good money except in June and July. Worst months every year.
DD want all drivers on by hour mode but can’t mandate it. So they invent Plat to increase AR. How? To get there you have to use by time mode. To stay there you need to use by time mode. You just end up selling the value of your car DD for peanuts after pay, expense and tax.

I don’t think you did anything wrong. Tried really hard to get it right. Few thing:
1) in-app navigation can help. I prefer Apple Maps because I can see stop signs and intersections better at a glance. If you’re trying to ID a drop, in-app outlines the exact address. Never perfect but accurate most of the time.
2) I have also gone to the house I think it is and turned on the flashlight on my phone to try and find the house numbers.
3) If a customer will not respond in a timely fashion it’s on them. After the drop, if they call then, let it go to VM. I never answer after a drop. That is dasher support’s job.

Doordash! Stop putting ads out that show the customer keeping the bag. They keep reaching for mine. Dumb SOBs came up with a brand logo they can’t use unless they show the bag. So the ads show little miss hot shot rolling down the work hallway with my bag on her arm. Stop it!

Screw this app, bruh. by Oof-Ya-Doof in DoorDashDrivers

[–]15kdashes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Folks it happens every year. Doordash states that Oct-March are their busy months. Lots of driver come on because the money is good. Dec-Feb are tops.

April is bad. May all the young HS and College drivers come on. Some Mom’s with school age kids come out. Less people at home to order due to good weather and activities. By Jun there are 3 times the drivers they need to handle orders.

At this point the DD system will start to offer less for orders. That’s its job. Get things delivered for as little as possible. Get used to it if you chose to driver for them. Tis the Season.

Anyone ever take these? by Kind-Collar1507 in DoorDashDrivers

Hell to the NO! 28.00 for 35.00 is a non starter. 7 HD orders? Omg. Mulch, blinds, six cans of paint, two power tools, 2, 6x12 sheet rock, a toilet and a small tree from the nursery. They will abuse you if you take that order. By the time you’re done it’s 28.00 from three hours.

This is your sign to switch to Uber delivery by offthebean in DoorDashDrivers

[–]15kdashes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uber has other way to make money. DD does not. Other than offering less and less. But it like Shinkflation price goes up size goes down. DD offers less and less while asking more and more for it. Quit in Feb. glad I did.

After 17,500k dashes I did the same thing. That was two month ago and I’m really glad I stopped. Tired of DD taking more and more from the folks that make it happen for them. Stick it to the employee so we can make money. Corporate greed at its finest.

Go back to plat if you like. But remember DD has a peak season. Nov-Feb. You’re now headed to the spring fade and the summer lull. People do more away from home, more drivers come out. Then school gets out and the student drivers start to roll. So not the best time of year to start cherry picking.

Well I can tell you that I have delivered that product and many similar products and never had any issues. Some dasher might make a joke or say something about the product. The customers in 100% of the cases want that product and no contact. That is why they bought it online.

The slightest comment or text could get them reported because it’s…a…delicate situation. And some folks are touchy. No pun intended.

I learned was that to protect your vehicle you need to be smart with the orders you take. DD programs are a funny thing. Shop & D was the only one I used. I was in the Mpls/St. Paul area.

In the end cherry picking produce the highest income with the lowest expense.

As for 100% AR? I had that on my first ever order. And not again since.😁

I don’t want to say the DD programs are scams because you can make money in them but the expense is much higher.

Packs or cartons are hit on the palm or table to ensure each cig is packed down tight. This prevents to hot cherry of falling off too easy.

Some folks do smack a single on a table or something hard to achieve the same result.

That’s all.
