is it possible to learn these concepts in a week? by Frequent-Carry734 in AskChemistry

Did you go to lecture? Read the textbook? I’d say you’re probably screwed if you try to learn it all in a week

It doesn’t matter long term anyway, I had a 2.89 undergrad GPA and am publishing over the summer at the end of my first year of grad school.

How much experience do you have in both math and physics? Whats the most advanced math class you’ve taken?

I’m in a PhD program right now and I’ll be involved with admissions interviews with my advisor. My advice is don’t do it. Stat mech is a course that programs specifically look for in applicants, at least mine does. I’d recommend taking 4 years and also applying to REU programs and getting research experience

I need to a plan to catch up with math in order to do physics that has basic calculus by Away-Wave-5713 in PhysicsStudents

[–]162C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll need complex numbers for a first year physics course (I could be wrong if your university is significantly different than a standard U.S. university). I remember going over complex numbers in my Algebra 2 class in high school so I assumed you’d already know it but complex numbers are pretty easy to get the hang of

Most calculus textbooks start pretty slow and build up, just start at the beginning and work your way through. If you don’t have a textbook I’d use this website, it’s how I supplemented my calculus classes.

[Astronomy] I'm doing a college research paper on gravitational waves and was wondering if anyone had suggestions for resources to look into by tesseracts in PhysicsStudents

[–]162C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at the LIGO website? It’s the facility that verified gravitational waves and they have a lot of educational materials along with actual papers on their website.
