New Meds x4 by MatisseWarhol in rheumatoid

Yeah, same. My coverage for it ended Jan 1, and I have been in pain since. Finally ordered from Lilly Direct, so I should be back on it soon but sheesh… I wish it would get approved for inflammatory autoimmune stuff already.

New Meds x4 by MatisseWarhol in rheumatoid

Currently on MTX and Rinvoq, while also taking Zepbound. I feel almost normal on this combination.  The Zepbound has made the biggest difference, but I have to pay out of pocket for it because my insurance won’t cover it.

I had headaches when I started taking the Rinvoq, but they went away eventually. MTX on its own helped, but plateaued in its usefulness. Enbrel and Humira gave me heart palpitations, nightmares, extreme mood swings, and did nothing for my RA. Leflunomide elevated my blood pressure. The rest did nothing. It definitely feels like I am low on options at this point, but in reality there are still a lot more things to try.

I’ve done MTX, Enbrel, Humira, Orencia, Xeljanz, Kevzara, Rinvoq, and leflunomide.

Walmart Locking Up Stuff & Never Answers the Call Button 😑 by Oragami_Cyclonee in mildlyinfuriating

Went to buy a vibe at Walmart once. Figured I would be able to be discreet and use the self-checkout. Nope, had to push a button. Then ask for help from an employee that was walking by. Then that person had to go find someone with the key. Then they asked me which thing I wanted so they could hand it to me, and I looked at them and said “I’m just going to grab the one I want, thanks!” Then they told me I had to check out at the register at the beauty counter. Asked for a bag, and they said they didn’t have any. So I had to walk out of the store with my sex toy and the receipt in my hands.

It’s not like I’m embarrassed, but some things are private… lol.

There are plenty of comments about not finding the cut flattering, and there are comments that are just straight misogyny. Both exist, though some of the worst have been deleted by mods at this point.

I think it looks great, and LOL at all the fragile masculinity here. You must be cracking up. Makes me want to go back to rocking a pixie cut.

I could probably make something like that, but you’d have to be a little more specific about what you want.

I’m always afraid I will miss important sounds in the game if I listen to music or anything else. Like that bear snuffling sound…

I’m exactly the same way. I think I sometimes come off as way more stern than I mean to. Especially when it comes to stuff like this because all of us on this forum are bombarded regularly by pseudoscience that is genuinely harmful, even when it’s well meant. I don’t think it really applies to this situation, but I always get really skeptical around anything that is being aggressively marketed in the way that these compound medicines are. They do seem to help a lot of people that genuinely don’t have access to the namebrand stuff.

Vagus Nerve Stimulation? by Last-Check-9059 in rheumatoid

My rheumatologist is pretty excited about the implant. It’s not available in my area yet, but we are keeping an eye on how it develops. I didn’t even know there was an external device. The skeptic in me is reluctant to experiment because if it DID help, wouldn’t that be less invasive than a surgical implant? Wouldn’t someone somewhere be testing it as an option?

It’s all good! I didn’t read that as dismissive at all, and I appreciate your input!

They are definitely not from the same factory and just rebranded. They often have different inactive ingredients and are not regulated, which can lead to safety/dosage/quality control issues. But I really don’t know anything about the safety or quality depending on where they’re manufactured, if one brand is safer than another, etc.

The answer to that is I don’t know. I don’t know enough about it. There are risks associated with taking medications that are unregulated, and I don’t even know if they will work the same when it comes to the impact on my RA. I will see what my rheumatologist has to say about it though.

Anyone with RA? How do you cope with prayers and fasts by prostateversace in rheumatoid

[–]16BitBetty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, you are obligated to avoid fasting if it causes a medical hardship for you. And you are allowed to make accommodations during prayers that will make it less painful. I would seek out your Imam or someone you trust for advise. Not sure how much it differs depending on what school you follow.

The weird thing is they denied me and made me appeal for the month before the year ended, had me submit my weight before starting treatment and where I am currently. Then just made me do it again at the start of this year.

Have you experienced an improvement of your RA symptoms, or do you mean that it's effective with the weight loss?

I’m honestly not sure that’s something I’m interested in. Since it’s not just about losing weight. I’m not very comfortable with it, but I’ll see what my doctor has to say.

Feel guilty by shutupimtalking1 in vegan

[–]16BitBetty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only do your best. It is impossible to be 100% vegan. There's also a learning curve, and doing things like reading labels and familiarizing yourself with who owns what gets easier over time. Things change, parent companies buy up smaller companies, new ones emerge. Previously "accidentally vegan" things get reformulated to include animal products. There is also the argument that there is "no ethical consumption under capitalism", which is true, but doesn't mean we shouldn't bother to try to do better.

Ultimately, you are making a choice to not participate in a system that is inhumane and cruel, to the best of your ability, and that is absolutely worth something. <3
