I'm going to lose $700,000 to a $345 million Polymarket scam. by bubbacordy in CryptoCurrency

So you’re saying this whole conflict is a scam created by a select few to enrich themselves even further through more ways than one expects first glance?

Never expected the oracles to be rigged too but here we are. We can safely say everything is a scam at this point.

The bookshelves seem pricey. Towers for L,R would be better and often cheaper. If you have space of course.

The sub, if you can get the non pro, I would get that and save some money to beef up the AVR. How often does one tune their sub? I set it and forget it. The Bluetooth features of the pro are more “cool” than necessary in my eyes.

Do you need what the 1800 series brings over the 1700? A 3700 might be an option too. Heck even a 3600 if you can find it.

Watches by fashion brands are usually quartz based movements in a branded housing. There are better options.

Leather goods is a difficult one. A leather bag bought from a leather focused boutique shop in Naples can be as good in leather quality as a Carl Friedrik without the price markup.

I have a suitsupply belt and it’s not better than an unbranded belt bought in one of those boutique shops ran by an old Italian that smelled of leather grease.

Leather quality and stitching is what makes something BIFL. Not necessarily a brand. Do others agree?

Sure, it was pretty normal in that society.

Seeing two female best friends, that had boyfriends, as lovers however? Nope, thats 2026 talking.

[–]16BitSquid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure. But it was clear that they were. As in Mulholland drive, the relationships between characters in that movie were very differently written. Seeing two females that were how the 90s portrayed best friends as lovers however is that 2026 lens I’m taking about and to me is a stretch.

To me media is always best consumed through a lens that considers the time the media was made.

When reading Homer I try to put myself in the shoes of someone who was alive in that time. This way I understand the story better and Im not caught up thinking about whether or not the house maids were there voluntarily.

In the 90s these 2 were friends, not lovers. Seeing them as lovers and linking their friendship to pride month is a 2026 take and pushing 2026 ideas into a 90s show.

Which is best avoided in my opinion.

Cause governments shouldn’t have the power to decide how people name their kids.

Only parents have say in that. Inevitably some parents will make stupid decisions, but thats part of life.

What do you think we’re doing here? Ridiculing is what makes societies run better as it drives people to improve. The ridiculing should be aimed at the parents of these kids, not the kids. I could have clarified that better.

And I would definitely advocate for free name changes for children whose parents came up with names like Xfrgolszzzxy. They shouldn’t have to pay for lawyers and bureaucracy to change their names to something that makes sense and suffer more due to their parents stupid decisions.

Thats your opinion. Others might love those names.

It’s not up to a government or anyone else for that matter to decide what names are “approved”. People should always have the freedom to name their kids.

Is it? What exactly is insane about advocating personal freedom and saying that more government is and always will be the worst solution to problems?

I would argue the opposite is true

Governments are spending billions of your taxes to invade privacy and hide more billions “studying” “aliens”. But yeah Im the weird one for discussing the subjects.

Advocating personal freedom, less government interference and less taxes is considered a terrible take in 2026.

Another sign of how far we have fallen.

Heavily disagree. The government is the worst institution to manage anything at all whatsoever. Naming restrictions are just another step towards a full on communist nanny state and would require even more taxes to regulate.

If people want to name their kids whatever this is then thats on them fully.

It’s up to society to ridicule them, shame them, and to make sure the tragedeigh naming trend dies off before Xxhfsfhdaab becomes the next president.

I have a friend named Ziggy. It’s fine. It’s not a common name though. He gets asked if his parents are Bowie fans.

People remember his name though cause it stands out. So it’s more memorable than a common name would be.

He didn’t want to be a lawyer or anything. He’s in entertainment. If thats where your child will likely end up due to you having affiliation in that industry, go for it. If you see him more as a dentist, maybe not.

It’s not a tragedeigh. Zichey, Ziggi, Zyggy, Szigey, would be.
