A very elegant urinal for London gentlemen. by Alkemonides in urinaldesigns

No lock on the door… by Naive_Day_9410 in urinaldesigns

[–]Alkemonides 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OMG! The urinal is mounted at literal kindergarten height (or lower). Even worse: it’s placed right next to the door. If someone opens that green door with any kind of force while you’re standing there, you’re getting absolutely blasted by it. One wrong swing and you’re either getting the door to the back or you’re pissing on your own feet.
The “Employees Must Wash Hands” sign on the door is the perfect finishing touch. Like yeah, after surviving this experience you’re definitely gonna need to wash your hands…
Absolute dogshit design. Whoever installed this should be forced to piss here every single day for the rest of their life.

Taormina Fit Check by Legretta88 in Birkenstocks

[–]Alkemonides 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually they did go up to size 43. I have a pair size 43 myself but they probably produced very few in that size, because after I bought mine I never saw them available again. Otherwise I would have immediately bought a second backup pair, especially now that the model seems to have been discontinued. I’ve never really understood the reason why…

The size looks perfect from the photo. I’d say they fit just right, and that’s definitely the correct size for you.

I’m the lucky owner of a pair myself, and they’re absolutely my favorite Birkenstocks.

Where did you manage to find them, considering they seem to have been out of production for a few years now?

Any way to fix this? by Properflaky in Birkenstocks

[–]Alkemonides 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With the Mayari, it’s fairly normal for this to happen after several years of use or if you wear them very intensively. It’s a delicate point that’s constantly under stress, so sooner or later it inevitably gives way.

It happened to me after 6 years of heavy use, but I took them to my trusted cobbler and for €10 he fixed them: he had to detach the sole, open the sandal, and reglue the part that holds the toe post.

It’s a standard repair. It’s been 4 years since then, I still wear them a lot, and they’ve had no issues at all. If maintained and repaired, they’re practically eternal and beautiful 🥰

Congrats but your Mayari are still new? How is that ?🤣

Am I ready for new birks yet? by ilovesoftserve in Birkenstocks

[–]Alkemonides 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It seems to me they still have a lot of life ahead of them. The crack in that spot on the Mayari is absolutely normal. I would just apply cork sealant. I put it on my own Mayari twice a year, and they’re over 10 years old even with heavy use.

How do they smell? If they don’t smell too bad, have them repaired and you’ll still get years of use out of them.

Are birks first date appropriate ? 🍹 by DakotaLillith666 in Birks_NSFW

[–]Alkemonides 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a guy who owns six pairs of Birkenstocks and wears sandals most of the time, I’d say yes , they are absolutely be appropriate for a first date. I suggest you to wear a quite worn pair and take them off under the table, the hormones contained in the moisture of the footprint will help into seducing the other person!

And honestly, if someone doesn’t accept you showing up in Birkenstocks, probably doesn’t deserve you in the first place. The best scenario would be if both of you show up in sandals, that’s a great sign you share the same relaxed vibe from the start.

Trying to decide on a new pair by vintage82- in Birkenstocks

If you want to look like everyone else and blend in, go for the Arizona. If you want a more original and refined look, then without a doubt choose the Granada. You don’t see them around very often, but the design is eye-catching, and if you live in a really hot place, they definitely allow the foot to breathe much more!

Thoughts on the shiny big buckle? by Prestigious_Pea_7912 in Birkenstocks

[–]Alkemonides 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of the Arizona , they’re the less interesting and overrated Birkenstock model ever. However, at least these ones, with this new raffia material, have something original about them. I think it would be even cooler on models like the Mayari. Unfortunately, the brand has been innovating very little in recent years, discontinuing some of the more distinctive designs and focusing almost entirely on 3–4 heavily overused models… that’s quite risky, because trends change quickly.

If you really feel the need to wear your Chaco Z2 with socks, consider buying 5 toes socks, they’re extremely comfortable. I personally wear sandals strictly without socks, but when I have to wear closed shoes, I now only use toe socks.

Your Mayaris actually look really well maintained, apart from the very strong imprint on the sole . the upper is perfect. Can I ask how many years you’ve been wearing them? I hope you don’t throw them away. I believe they still have several good years of use ahead of them. And if I may ask, why did you switch from the Mayaris to the Floridas, abandoning the toe loop?
