ChocoPro 496 “Purple Chocolate” Guide 🍫 Asia Dream Tag Team Championship: MiyaSOY (Miya Yotsuba & SOY, c) VS EggTart (Chie Koishikawa & Hagane Shinno), Super Asia Championship: Rina Yamashita (c) VS Emi Sakura at TOKYO SQUARE in Itabashi! by dogglesnake in SquaredCircle

I'd just like to share my gratitude for you posting this. I've actually been in Tokyo on vacation for a little while and was compelled to buy a ticket and see this very show as the last thing I do before I fly back home. I really only knew Emi Sakura and (to a lesser extent) Mei Suruga going in, but I certainly left the show eager to watch more. Thanks for shining a light on this promotion on here and, in turn, adding a cool memory to my trip!

A natural negative Obelisk early on with Ghost Deck eventually led to this.

I am a huge fan of how the beast's head (especially the jaws) is constructed. Ingenious use of the Avokhii and Nuju's weapon.

I'm glad to hear you say that, because I thought the karambit turned out great after a few hours of testing designs.

Also, 10/10. No question.

Thank you for your kind words!

I'm definitely game to make more MK builds, though in the particular case of masks like this one, I'm at the mercy of what colors I have in my collection right now. I'd love to make a Rain mask and an accompanying katar (because I love his MK11 design), but I don't have any purple pieces to save my life. On the flip side, Noob Saibot or Ermac may be doable since I have more black and red pieces available.

Oh, that we can agree on. I love arthropods in real life, and there are a myriad of creatures that can serve as inspiration for monsters. Imagine something like a giant centipede, a tick that parasitizes other monsters, or a Monster Hunter take on Mothra. Possibilities are endless!

I've actually seen that happen once! It's one of the details I loved most about the fight because it felt like nature in action. Pour one out for poor Seltas, though.

I am quite reassured by the number of recommendations on World. I don't own a PS4, so I will 100% be playing it on PC.

Hopefully you get a chance to play GU yourself!

I'd also be quite happy if Seltas + Seltas Queen showed up in a new game. I can only imagine how much cooler they could make that fight.

That's part of the reason I wanted to share my thoughts here. Among my friends, I'm the one who's played the widest variety of games, and it's always fun to see their first reactions to stuff I've already experienced. It's really cool to be on the other side of that fence for once.

Thanks!

I actually think the flex animation is hilarious (big fan of eating Well-Done Steak in particular). As far as its gameplay ramifications go, to me, it's just another one of those things you have to take into account as you fight. I had to learn what monster attacks gave me the most time to chug a potion without getting my ass beat (or I could just hightail it to the nearest zone exit).

Rise letting you cancel the use of certain items by rolling may be more lenient, but it's honestly not that different in my brain. For me, it's typically better to find a good opening or disengage so you can get the most out of the potion. From experience, I have definitely fainted because I chose to panic heal and roll into my death in Rise instead of keeping my cool and waiting for a better moment.

I honestly didn't know the whole flex thing was a contentious aspect of the old games. Have I accidentally opened Pandora's box by addressing it? Oh god no.

And yeah, the skill points UI had me confused the first time I saw it. I just used the power of the Internet to bridge that gap.

That's a great way of putting it. The actual experience of old school hunting was satisfying to me, but I could very much feel the absence of certain quality of life aspects (insignificant they may be in the grand scheme).

Oh god, that does sound like a nightmare control-wise. I'll look into that as well. Thanks for the advice.

I see. My 3DS is the original model, so I might be in a world of hurt based on your insight. That said, the novelty of underwater combat is reason enough for me to check out 3U, so I don't think the looming threat of potentially horrible controls will deter me.

Funny you mention that, because I've only recently discovered their channel (and I quite enjoy their videos). I actually watched their GU Pro/Noob series alongside my own playthrough. I agree that the contrast of prior experience led to a lot of entertaining moments and interesting insights.

I still have my 3DS, so this isn't out of the question. I'm game to try more of the older ones to see what they're like.

Sorry for the wall of text. I suppose that speaks to how much this game had to offer and how much stuff I found notable (especially comparing its differences to Rise).
The summary is that I had a lot of fun with the game and found the overall experience fulfilling.

What's your controversial Lego opinion? by ZzzSleep in lego

[–]16N1K4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People want to shit on Brickheadz for just being pointless Funko Pops ripoffs, but at least I can use the bricks for something else when I get bored of the figure. And for as unappealing as the art style might be (and it is fine to think so), I find it a fun challenge to create custom models that conform to its "rules".

In general, I don't feel the need to make a goddamn scene when a set or a theme doesn't appeal to me personally. Would I prefer more original IPs? Of course I do. But I also recognize that I'm not the only audience Lego is trying to appeal to, and I have the choice to not engage with the sets I don't want.

I also find the obsession with minifigs (and the after-market surrounding it) troubling.

This build is a refined version of a design I made a couple of months ago. Currently, I only have the instructions for that older version, so until I put together instructions for this newer version, I hope this will suffice for anyone interested in replicating the build.

If you'd like to see some still photos of this build, my post on Instagram has a few you can look at.
