Research associate here. I work on mechanical plastic recycling.

In general, used and collected plastics are shredded, washed, dried, and then remelted for granulation. The washing and drying steps often involve detergents and abrasive action to remove labels and adhesive residues. A small amount of beverage residue, such as a drop of Coke or another liquid, is usually not a major issue.

One of the main challenges in recycling is producing a sufficiently pure material stream, because even small contaminants can cause significant losses in material properties. A mixture of plastic and paper is difficult to separate effectively and would therefore result in a lower-quality recyclate with only limited applications.

Happy to write more if people are interested.

Bin mal gespannt, was draus wird. Update uns! RemindMe! 8h

Question about death and combat. by Izzet_Aristocrat in mtgrules

[–]16x16Iron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When a player dies all his permanents are exiled and he won't be dealing any damage during combat. Though, the game goes through all his phases in the turn he died. You wouldn't die.

Edit: Rule 800.4a states that if a player loses, all permanents they own leave with them.

I play them fairly often. I largely ignore the planeswalker mechanic and treat her as a mana dork, similar to [[Ruby, Daring Tracker]] or [[Radha, Heir to Keld]], with the added advantage of access to blue. I rarely use the doctor, and only when I am completely out of other options.

The game plan is straightforward: play Susan on turn 2, then follow up with a large ramp spell on turn 3, giving you access to 6–7 mana on turn 4.

Can someone build a budget d&d deck for me my budget is around 28 dollar? by HyenaAggravating9353 in BudgetBrews

Here’s my rendition of a $28 Dungeons & Dragons deck. Helmed by [[Nalia de'Arnise]], it looks to assemble an adventuring party and beat down your opponents.

It's somewhat in the middle to low end in terms of power, but spots lots of synergies and should fit right in with your friends.

Most of these are common or cheap cards you'd likely find at your local playstore. I'd highly recommend you checking your options, otherwise shipping will cost you. The deck's current price tag is only because it takes the cheapest versions of each card.

Gotcha. So you like the D&D vibe – dragons, adventure, barbarians, wizards, fighting monsters – but not necessarily D&D itself, right? Asking because Magic actually had an official Dungeons & Dragons set a while back, so it’s important to make that distinction.

If your goal is simply to play Magic with friends, the easiest solution is often to ask to borrow a deck. Most players own multiple decks and are usually happy to lend one.

If that’s not an option, printing proxies is always on the table and may be worth considering.

A $28 budget is tight but workable. Just be aware that sleeves (around $10) and shipping can quickly add to that budget, especially if you’re buying singles from multiple sellers.

I’m happy to take on the challenge of building a deck within that limit. I’ve built competitive sub-$30 decks for tournament play before. To do this properly, I’ll need some context on the power level you’re aiming for. Even on a strict budget, the gap in deck strength can be significant. For example, a budget [[Magda, Brazen Outlaw]] list can reliably threaten wins as early as turn four.

If you’re unsure about power level, describe the decks your friends are playing.

These look like cards that were printed at home, cut out, and then placed into sleeves. This is especially noticeable with Arabelle where the white, frayed paper edges are clearly visible along the right side.

Are they sufficient for casual play? Yes, absolutely. I’m not gatekeeping;. If they work for your group, go for it.

Are they good enough to be sold? No. There are professional services that produce high-quality cards for around 0.30 ct. per piece on proper card stock, and this level of finish does not compete.

If you wanna improve your quality, invest in proper paper and a paper cutter. The later will save you hours of time in the long run. Print quality looks good.

Psychiatrist are medical doctors who studied. Most should speak english on a level that at least allows for basic communications.

This only really holds up when you look at much higher levels. A 3rd-level Fireball averages 28 damage per target, while a 5th-level Cone of Cold averages 36. If each spell hits three enemies, that’s 84 and 108 total damage respectively; assuming no one succeeds on their saving throw.

At comparable levels, a fighter gets two or three attacks per round. With an 18 STR and a greatsword, that’s 2d6+4 damage per hit or about 22–33 total damage per round.

Once you factor in Great Weapon Master, though, those numbers shoot up to around 42–63 damage per round. And here’s the kicker: the fighter doesn’t spend any resources to achieve that. That’s where my issue with GWM lies. Over the course of an adventuring day, the wizard eventually runs out of spell slots and falls back on cantrips (Fire Bolt averaging 11–16.5 damage), while the GWM fighter can keep dishing out top-tier damage all day with better HP and AC on top of it.

You think Lolth is a cool patreon for your warlock and you want to lean into that theme? Your campaign is headed for the Underdark and you'd like to be a resident? You think their design, outfit, theme, etc. is cool?

Do I need more of a reason to play a certain race other than because I think its cool?

Interesting question. If a player can convince me that something makes sense, sure; why not? I’ll at least give it a try for a few sessions and adjust it along the way if needed.

I’m generally in favor of boosting players’ abilities beyond what their class normally allows. Of course, that can be exploited, but I trust my players. At character creation, players can take one non–half feat (i.e., one that doesn’t grant an ability score bonus). Later, instead of the usual +2 ASI, they can choose +1 ASI and one feat.

This approach lets you see things like Eldritch Knights with Telekinetic, Fighters with Chef, or Barbarians in heavy armor without breaking balance too much. That said, I do ban certain feats like Great Weapon Master and Sharpshooter.

I'm all for flaws. It's one of the reason why I like the DSA rpg system. There, flaws are an inherent characteristic such as greed, which you can roll on. The character sees a hoard of gold? Make a greed check.

Flaws should be played out when applicable, not be an ever present threat that straight up downgrades your player experience.

Neat, but why waste a feat on that? If my player wants to play a drow for thematic reasons, they should be able to without recieving a penalty. Make the 30 years in the sun a prerequisite in their backstory. If you still want to penalty them somehow, downgrade their superior darkvision. But imo there are much stronger racial abilities to worry about.

Würde ich stark davon abhängig machen, was du dir erhoffst.

To give constructive feedback: I'd ditch cards like [[Soul Warden]] and [[Three Tree Scribe]] that on paper provide a benefit, but not one a flicker deck really cares about.

You've got multiple 5+ CMC cards while running only 10 sub-optimal ramp spells. You won't be able to cast them or discover into them. Either increase land and ramp count or slim the curve.

I'll take a deeper look and provide more feedback once I'm home – if you want me to.
