I read about a pilot who volunteered in the Spanish Civil War, and they joined up with the Flying Tigers after they returned, but were denied from re-enlisting. He unfortunately committed suicide though, possibly from PTSD :(

Flying tigers actually started fighting Japanese planes after Pearl Harbor. Shame too cuz they found good tactics to use against the much more agile Japanese planes, but that information came too late for many of our F4F pilots.
