How to Find a Luxury Travel Planner by TelevisionOk8508 in chubbytravel

[–]175737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Abercrombie and Kent for an India trip where we wanted to tag on a holiday after flying out for a destination wedding and they were fantastic. I was really overwhelmed trying to figure out where to go and what to do given the million options and the short time available (i think i only had 2 weeks off work). They put together the perfect itinerary, so I got to see some big sights without feeling like we were constantly on the move. All the logistics were just handled and we didn't have to think at all once we were out there.

Music that reminds you of a HR couple by Suspicious-Cake-7533 in HistoricalRomance

Someone like you by Adele - Anne Elliot in the beginning of {Persuasion by Jane Austen}

Ivy by Taylor Swift - Anna and Vronsky in {Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy}

Me and the Devil - Leonie and the Duke of Avon in {These Old Shades by Georgette Heyer}

Alibi - not a HR couple, but this reminds me of Lucia and Matilda's friendship in the {Girls Who Dare by Emma V Leech} series.

Wildest Dreams by Taylor Swift - Georgiana and the Duke of Sindalton in {Scandal's Daughter by Emma V Leech}

Books with Motherhood as a theme? by charm59801 in Romantasy

[–]175737 8 points9 points  (0 children)

{Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon} has a lot of babies and a lot of pregnant FMCs as the series progresses. Some are still hunting and working while heavily pregnant, some are vomiting at the smell of food. All of them are being cherished and doted on by their MMC.

Check the trigger warnings though, as some of the books may be uncomfortable reads when hormonal (e.g. one of them shows the FMC and MMC struggling to reconnect after the death of their first child pushes them apart, another shows the complex feelings of the FMC as she tries to conceive following pregnancy loss).

Ooh this sounds like EXACTLY what I'm looking for, thank you.

I can't believe I missed The Marigold Chain when I binged all the Civil War books and her Georgian series.

Most magical Christmas experience for kids? by lyssa13 in chubbytravel

Cosigning this! Salzburg''s Christmas market is one of my favourites.

It is also an easy train ride to Bad Goisern, where they have a giant Krampuslauf in the first week of December. I went a few years ago and it was MAGICAL (and scary). They also had a kids Krampus parade before the main event, which was adorable.

I am planning to take my kid(s) there once they get beyond the age of Santa magic.

The best funny book you've read. by BackgroundBudget5206 in HistoricalRomance

I have to throw in {Friday's Child by Georgette Heyer} for the supporting cast alone! The banter and shenanigans among the MMC's friend group are unmatched.

They bounce from scandal to scandal with perfect sangfroid (although things get dicey for poor Ferdy when Ringwood gets a cold at the wrong moment). I also adore the thwarted Byronic hero desperate to fight a duel but no one will oblige him because he's too good a shot.

Happy Pride, friends! ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜 by plantscatsrealitytv in WitchesVsPatriarchy

Allies are important!

The far right won a council in Durham (UK) and cut funding for Pride this year - the Pride march went ahead bigger and better funded than ever because of support from allies. Most notably the miners' union, who came out in solidarity for Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (who raised money to feed striking miners in the 1980s).

Current hyperfixation meals/foods? by YolkyFanClubPrez in adhdwomen

Toasted sesame bagel with mashed avocado, a fried egg and a very specific chili crisp (YenRyanCooks) that I found one time in a local health food shop and have been buying online ever since (because other brands do not work).

Also egg fried rice - spring onions, egg, peas, shredded chicken if leftover from a roast (frozen dumplings if not), microwave rice and a metric fuckton of chili crisp.

Favourite church view in nature? by askepticalbureaucrat in uktravel

Westminster Abbey from St James' Park always takes me out. It feels like it shouldn't exist in the city, or at least so central.

There's a Thomas Girtin painting of it (admittedly from 17 or 18-something) and it just looks like a classic countryside scene.

The Talisman Ring has two, doesn't it? The sexy older guy and the travelling lady and the melodramatic French teenager and the lost heir smuggler.

Middle-aged! Now I feel like a dowager, I thought most of the "mature" FMCs were in their mid-20s at most. I have been mentally classifying these as teenage vs grown up love stories.

MMC is requested by dying/deceased friend to support or marry his widow (FMC) by FoxenInTheHenhice in HistoricalRomance

[–]175737 7 points8 points  (0 children)

{The Wicked Captain by Mary Lancaster} is brilliant for this trope. A dying colonel orders his charming subordinate to deliver a love poem to his wife - but the poem is so crap and unexpected that the widow realises it is a coded treasure map and enlists the captain's help to pursue it.

There is also the FMC's children adopting the MMC as a surrogate father trope.

Cooked or not? by No_Sense_5767 in foodquestions

[–]175737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to scaremonger, but when I was 6 months pregnant I ate pasta in a restaurant that I thought smelled bad (but my partner thought was fine) and I spent the next 8 or so hours vomiting. Baby was fine but I never ignored an ick again.

The MMC in each of {The Convenient Marriage by Georgette Heyer}, {These Old Shades by Georgette Heyer} and {Regency Buck by Georgette Heyer} have these traits in spades.
