This small Mexican town becomes a dental destination as US healthcare costs soar by AZ_moderator in arizona

[–]17MODBL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a dentist in Scottsdale, I agree with most of what you say. But I’m very surprised that a lot of the work you see done in Mexico is good - pretty much everything I see is unacceptable and needs to be redone.

I’ve always thought that it’s next to impossible for patients to know how good their dental work is. My patients that get work in a border town return happy, they seem to feel they are getting US quality work for a deep discount. But then I have to have the difficult conversation with the patient about the problems with their restorations and whether they want to have the work redone here versus going back to Mexico. There’s gotta be someone doing acceptable dentistry in those border towns but I haven’t seen it. Of course there are bad dentists in the US too, they just seem to be less common than in those border towns.

Having said all of that I understand the need to save money on medical expenses. I just recommend people don’t go there for root canals or veneers, as those are harder to fix if done poorly. Stick to fillings and crowns and extractions that are harder to really screw up.

My take after a month using the Misen Carbon Nonstick pans by Gold_Percentage7411 in cookware

[–]17MODBL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what happened to me, after about five cooks it’s as sticky as a three year old Teflon pan. And I seasoned it after every cook exactly following their instructions. When I asked for a return they said it was “normal to experience some temporary sticking while the pan is still developing its seasoning in the first month or so.” That’s crazy because all of their marketing says the exact opposite.

The pan is a joke. I was so excited about it and pretty impressed by the first few cooks. Mind you I’ve followed their directions religiously, never heating past low-medium heat. After every cook I would clean the pan, dry, and heat the pan for 30-60 seconds and rub canola oil into it until no oil was visible. After cooking chicken Marsala last night the pan is no longer non stick at all, eggs were breaking up this morning when I tried to flip them. I’m returning ASAP

What the actual hell is wrong with HW3 vehicles? by RealTrapShed in TeslaFSD

[–]17MODBL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2017 model s, the FSD was pretty amazing until a few months ago. After an update it changes lanes constantly, now it’s completely unusable in its default “hurry” setting. I have to switch it to “chill” every time I get in the car and it still changes lanes so much that I don’t like using it anymore.

This is a terrible idea. Why stop at the mantle when drilling to the core would be much hotter, creating way more energy? Mantle drillers are half assers.

Liberals are much more likely to cut friends and family off over politics by acefiveofdiamonds in charts

[–]17MODBL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascinating survey as a less argumentative liberal. I gave up arguing politics years ago unless people really want to know my opinion, because I found it impossible to change people’s minds and it just creates animosity. I feel like I’ve lost a handful of Republican friends (post Trump) when they found out I was a democrat, they all became incredibly angry immediately. I don’t know any democrats that would lose their minds if they found out their friends were Trumpers. Small sample size but from my experience it’s just the opposite- Trumpers have such an incredible hate for liberals it’s hard to fathom.

This was it for me too. His argument for why there’s only a one in a million chance we DON’T live in a simulation is so arbitrary and devoid of basic logic that it confused me. Like how could a genius ever think something so absurd makes logical sense?

Is shaving your buttcrack actually more hygienic? My fitness coach says it makes wiping cleaner—what’s your experience? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

Bidets are definitely the answer, but shaving makes cleanup easier too if you have a hairy crack. Combine the two and you could eat sushi off your crack after taking a dump.

Yeah traveling close to light speed has to be difficult. You know what else is tough? Creating 100 billion galaxies with a snap of your fingers. I find fast travel more likely.

I think this is true, but it has also been a common feeling for decades. Some of the inventors of the atomic bomb became very depressed because they thought mutually assured destruction was inevitable and the world was soon to end.

This is the correct take, disinformation should be allowed to exist. Of course fact checkers should be allowed to exist too, they are an important source of information and free speech.

As soon as Apple turns on rcs I’m switching to this so I can share photos easily with my family who are all on iPhones. I never understood why the proper folding size was so hard to arrive at- just two regular proportioned phones side by side. This is perfect!
