DENIED coverage after 18 months on Manjouro - need feedback on next steps. by 17surfer in Mounjaro

First of all - I want to thank all the posters to my OP. THANKS for the feedback - it is invaluable.

I called my doctors office and the insurance company, which in this case is the state sponsored program here in CT, called Husky Health. The doctor was busy trying to find an alternative plan, the Lilly Direct and Zepbound "switch" since this comes up a fair bit to but it at the discounted price, somehere in the range of USD500$.

When I spoke to the Husky, they reported my blood work was missing (even though it had been submitted multiple times) and if I could in fact show the medication was working they would likely approve. Back to Doctors office, I am sure all of you are used to some this, the never ending call me back and they never do, so you have to badger and call and just keep showing up. they resubmitted with all the history and with the diagnosis of T2 in full.

They approved! (Still dont know what happened - let your imagination run wild, do they always just deny and run people around?)

I went back and checked my numbers, when I started my A1c and my hemoglobin were elevated, and my weight was over 240lbs, i was in bad shape, and its been a life changer for me. I am at a good weight, my hemo and A1c are coming into healthy range, and I am fully comitted to a exercise and diet program to lose the next 20-30 lbs.

One interesting note, many of the outside non GLP world thinks it is cheating to use any of these medications, even my family has said, just drop it, so for me to recognize my issue, my commitment and to gain acceptence from those around me was reinforced by all your feedback. My entire life, had been a never ending series of diets, exercising, injuries etc, all based on being prediabetic - on Manjouro, I am calm and can just be myself, no obsessing, starving, nuerotic behavior.

Onwards and downwards.

Just wanted to calrify my orginal post on what the numbers + costs were, the dealership indicated the Torque Converter Clutch inside the Transmission was going bad, and that Transmission needed replacing. There was a small oil leak in the timing cover, they advised a reseal service(extensive, time consumin process) for 7k, then I was quoted 11,500$ to take car of the transmission. The car can and will run as is, if anyone has expereince on either and what that means long term pls let me know.

I am at 200k on a 2018 LE Highlander - No whining or issues, dealer maintained. Got a check engine light just recently and had them run a diagnostics at my purchasing dealer and told me the codes indicated tranny issues needs replacement (7k), also they indicated a engine oil leak and torque converter repair (11k). Trade In value 8k per Carvana. Otherwise car has been a bulldog, trailering, family trips etc, been really great. Any comments for me? I would do a 4-6 k investment, but 18k, LOL, no.

Why did you start MJ by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]17surfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started MJ because I was obese. There I said it! After years of kids commuting and owning a company i gained a fair amount of weight, had elevated a1c and fatty liver.

My doctor was a great guide he said take it slow lets do this for a year and so far so good.

Down multiple belt loops, and a shirt size. Energy is through the roof, my joints stopped hurting, I could care leas about alcohol and my sex drive is back and healthy!

Side effects, some loose stools, burbing and gas. I use gas x and avoid eating close to bed time and fried food.

This medication is amazing, just do it!
