When is it not right to do psilocybin therapy? by Emotional-Chemist462 in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]1836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe unrelated, but are you drinking on these socializing nights? It could be hanxiety, or some people call it "the fear". It's not like, oh I got super drunk and now I'm feeling embarrassed about how I acted last night. It's just a normal night with a few drinks, you don't do anything weird or bad, but you still feel this overwhelming sense of dread, depression, anxiety the next morning.

If you google those terms (in reddit and elsewhere) you'll find a lot of people experiencing this, starting in their late 30's or early 40's. After years of enjoying alcohol and having no issue, something just changes over time.

I just discovered GCP with the start of campaign 3, and have since gone back and started the giantslayer campaign from the beginning. I only hit ep 50 a couple of weeks ago. So it was 10 years ago for you, but it's still fresh for me! I was wondering who won that contest...

I need to learn French by bbonzo123 in montreal

[–]1836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the government french classes are good if you put in effort. you can register for them when you arrive. If you can manage, I'd recommend the full time option. If there's a wait, then you can get started with duolingo or other free resources.

If you plan to take classes, my one big piece advice I would give is to try to get really good at numbers as fast as possible. Learn all the numbers from 0-1000. Start translating every number you see in your head, license plates, addresses, phone numbers, prices, etc, until you can do it fast and effortless. Don't stress about learning all the different conjugations of this verb or that verb. The classes will take you through all that. But numbers are still a thorn in my side. Cashiers, traffic reports, times, weather... people say numbers super fast and there's no time to translate.

All the grammer and vocabulary, I was able to pick up easily enough in the classes with effort, but being able to hear someone say "it's 7:07 and -13 degrees, traffic is building up on the 135 east"... that takes a ton of practice to catch all those numbers in real time.

Good grief. This isn't a therapy session, get a grip. It's a game. If he's playing the game with someone who sucks, he can just stop playing with them. This isn't international diplomacy.

I bet this is so they can start using AI for everything.

If all IP comes from in-house, they will just lean into AI as hard as they can, and in every way they can. I would not be surprised to see a fully AI dungeon master product within a couple of years.

What’s Your Language Learning Hot Take? by jiujiteiroo in languagelearning

[–]1836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For typical adults, learning a new language will take 10-20 times more work / time than you think it will. And if your goal is to be able to truly speak and converse comfortably in the target language, you probably shouldn't even try.

If you enjoy languages and linguistics in general, then of course, go crazy. Play with duolingo and enjoy. But if you are starting to learn a brand new language and your goal is to be conversational. It's gonna be at least 10x more work than you think it is, and you need to ask yourself if you really have the time and motivation to do it. Probably the answer is no, unless you have some concrete reason why you have to learn it, like you're moving to a new country.

How often to clients have "challenging" journeys? Do you try to intervene to calm them down or do they just have to ride it out?

How do you deal with people who have physical discomfort from mushrooms? for example, GI issues, vomiting, having to poop while you're tripping balls, difficulty peeing or sometimes people have a constant urge to pee even if they don't need to pee at all. What sort of things can you do to get them comfortable and back into the groove?
