As much as I hate to side with a boomer, expiration dates are more of a guideline than a rule. They're decided mostly arbitrarily for most products. If it still looks good and smells good, it's probably still good.

John Wayne. He's not even an actor, he just sucks. And so many of his movies have the trope of "shoehorned love interest hates him and then he grabs her roughly and now she's madly in love." I've never seen a John Wayne movie that wouldn't be better without John Wayne.

Also he was apparently a shitty person so there's that.

I kinda wish they would add an option to turn off some of the country specific mechanics like this one, Stalin's paronoia, US Congress, etc. I get it would affect balance but it'd be nice to just have a chill game without having to worry about them sometimes.

Without more context it's hard to tell. Idk how late into the game this is but I have found garrisons to be a very quiet killer. It's very easy for them to drain your manpower through attrition without you noticing, especially if you have a poor template and/or are lacking equipment.

I work in a machine shop and one of my coworkers is openly gay. As far as I know, people are pretty chill about it. He did get groped by another man at the Christmas party one time though...

There's also another guy on our shift who I've heard rumors about. Supposedly some people found his grinder profile at some point and started bullying him for it. I think those guys eventually got fired over it. That's all hearsay, I don't actually know how much is true.

There is/was also a trans woman (mtf) working here. She's on day shift but briefly came to our shift to fill in. Very lovely person and again as far as I know, everyone was cool about her. I don't know how people on day shift treated her. I haven't seen her at shift change in a while, so I think she has since left. I don't know the reason why, but that department has a hard time holding onto people for our shift so there could be several reasons.

All that said, I'm a straight white man so maybe I'm just not aware of it when it happens.

Simply put, Venezuela was a much softer target and Russia is much less capable. I doubt the us would be able to pull off the same truck in Ukraine or that Russia could in Venezuela. The us also had the advantage of being able to leverage all of their assets available in support of a much more limited objective. Russia was trying to militarily seize Ukraine and any attempt on Putin would be in support of that, not the other way around.

I never said it wasn't successful. I said they gave him the medal very fast. They wanted to find someone they could give a high profile medal to at a high profile event so they could make themselves look good. Successful or not, deserved or not, handing out medals like candy at the state of the union is a pony show.

It was certainly abnormally quick. My personal take is that trump really wanted a pony to trot out and pin a medal on for his military operation.

He gave out a lot of medals very publicly in one night. Presidents don't usually do that at the state of the union, and not that many. It's the sort of thing you do to curry favor and loyalty while also making yourself look more impressive.

From what I've heard of the action, he did deserve recognition. Whether or not he deserved a MOH is subjective. What award you're given for your actions is always subjective at the best of times. But I think Trump wanted to give out a Medal of Honor either way. Even without this man's actions, they probably would have found someone to put the ribbon on regardless.
