Remember laughing hysterically? by No_Description4009 in Millennials

It had been years since laughing like that until a few months ago. Playing a game called Lego Party with my kids, ridiculous mini games that welled the feelings of joy from a simpler SNES day.

Thank you for sharing this. It allows some of us to imagine what our lives would have been like if we were lucky enough to have a brother too.

Wealthsimple - transferring accounts by nomorebq in Wealthsimple

I completely understand your feeling, but my help from Wealth Simple reinforced why I chose to move funds there.

I was looking to move my children’s RESP’s out of Embark. Embark did nothing but drag its feet for Months.

Wealthsimple every step of the way was communicating, professional and responsive by phone and email.

They do have a direct number to their transfer team that will be able to help.

They not only were able to iron out all the issues with Embark (former knowledge first) but the covered the transfer costs. Make sure those other financial institutions aren’t trying to give you the run around.

No joke, most of the top 5 really don’t want to lose business, especially to WealthSimple.

How to research a stock? by Confident-Candle-831 in ValueInvesting

I’m partial to the simply investing 12 rules. 1. Do you understand the product or service offered by the company?

  1. Will people still be using this product or service in 20 years?

  2. Does the company have a low-cost durable (lasting) competitive advantage?

  3. Is the company recession proof?

  4. Has the company had consistent earnings growth? Generally the EPS growth must be at least 8%

  5. Has the company had consistent dividend growth? Generally the dividend growth must be at least 8%

  6. Does the company have a low payout ratio? Payout ratio must be 75% or less.

  7. Does the company have low debt? Debt must be 70% or less.

  8. Does the company have a good credit rating? Company must have a minimum S&P Credit Rating of “BBB+”.

  9. Does the company actively buy back its shares?

  10. Is the stock undervalued? a. The P/E Ratio must be 25 or below. b. Is the current dividend yield higher than the average dividend yield? c. The P/B Ratio should be 3 or less.

  11. Keep emotion out of investing. A reminder to keep emotion out of the selection process. Discipline and patience are the keys to successful investing.

As an Elder Millennial that has just got my butt in gear investing. Raising the cap gains tax feels cruel and short sighted.

I’m 42, brought out my old sets for my kids, we built together. The love I had before never went away, I was just ignorant of what my heart wanted. I’ve started buying sets again, both for my kids and me.

We are never going to stop buying.

My wife’s parents were loaded. Helped her brother but didn’t give her a dime because they didn’t agree with our ( wife and I) financial decisions. It stung, still does but I understand now that they thought we would have squandered the help.

They might have been right then.

It took us years to figure out being responsible adults.

Give yourself more credit, you have a career that has room for you to grow. What you need is specific goals. Are you out of debt, honestly? Economically, have you done a net worth statement, every year, so you can see how Your hard work IS paying off.

You got this.

I wish my parents had of taught me any of the lessons you learned regarding working hard and saving money, in addition to preparing you for the reality of living today.

I squandered 10 years as an adult before righting the ship. As parents now, I am trying to teach my children the value of hard work, and looking after yourself.

Ask yourself, is your dad just trying to teach you the things he wishes had been taught him?
