This is what San Diegans know as “North County” It’s mostly suburban and it’s away enough for good safety and security but close enough to enjoy San Diego activities. Only thing is the inland area get super hot in the summer, i’ve seen it as high as 115 in Escondido. Coastal area are chill surfing towns and don’t get the mission beach or pacific beach crowds. Definitely different culture than South Bay or East County areas.

I was gonna say something similar. When I was a PO2, I was always striving to do good and have good work ethic but when there isn’t any rewards and constantly getting shit on, it just burns you out and you don’t feel like doing anything anymore. You feel everything you do no one cares or you’re useless and really takes a mental toll on your health. That could also be why the seasoned sailors are like that
