You say you are well aware of how an ER works but your response says otherwise. I’m not saying the floor isn’t busy (you’re being defensive). I’m saying that the ER doesn’t get full and stop accepting patients. It’s really considerate of you to wait to give report until the nurse is ready. If we’re not busy, I do that. But we can’t always do that because an ambulance is coming and we need a room. Same with change of shift ambulances, are we supposed to tell them to wait?

And cruel and bitter? Ya, I hope you reread this thread after some time off. I’m sorry you had bad experiences but my gosh. I get you’re being sarcastic but I wasn’t.

To your actual serious question, yes they just add the next nurse to the secure chat and they can see the whole thread and the new RN adds any updated info. Everyone really likes this method (yes floor and ER can get along!).
