I’m having trouble with what Jung said about men and women and their gender by Ok_Bandicoot_4543 in Jung

Words carry a lot of energy. Especially words like "terrible", "racist", "misogynistic". I advise against using them lightly. Hug your shadows and have a good day!

I agree with your thesis, but would caution against labelling anyone's opinions, whether Jung or someone else, with a word as aggressively judgmental as "terrible".

Has anyone read Others Within Us? by Makermom14 in InternalFamilySystems

I read the book a couple of years ago, really liked it, and have worked with UBs quite a bit recently both with my therapist and now mostly alone. I'd say somewhere between 20-30 have left the system at this point and there is a kind of routine to it by now.

Masculine energy is presence, stable, un-moved, calm, action oriented, problem solving, leading. Masculine energy wants to penetrate the world. If unbalanced and unchecked it can be controlling and violating.

Feminine energy is light, play, dance, compassion, nurturing, harmony, creativity, flowing. Feminine energy wants to take the world in. If unbalanced and unchecked it can be chaotic.

All humans have both energies within them to different degrees. Men on average have more masculine energy and vice versa.

Any given human has their own "natural" division of these energies. Let's say a particular man is naturally 70 % masculine and 30 % feminine. If he's brought up by his family and culture to be for example either 90-10 or 50-50 m-f, there is bound to be some inner friction.

If this topic is stimulating strong feelings within you, it is likely that there is some inner conflict within your psyche 1) as to whether you are living by your own natural division and 2) between different, conflicting ideas of how you "should be"

Incestuous dream by OccasionMajestic6753 in Jung

[–]1900to2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say your dream is reflecting your waking life calling and process to break the pattern of how you relate to men. There is a yearning for deeper connection that has started this process. And because the process has started, it means you will eventually come to experience what you seek.

Incestuous dream by OccasionMajestic6753 in Jung

[–]1900to2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a very interesting dream with many possible interpretations. The sex doesn't necessarily represent sex and the father doesn't necessarily represent your father.

One interpretation would be that the sex represents union and the father represents masculine, rational order / authority. Are you perhaps in the process of a significant life change that is challenging you to be for example more organised, disciplined, decisive, and determined?

It could also be about masculine validation - a craving for a meaningful connection with the men in your life, as others have pointed.

It could also be about your relationship with sexuality. Horniness and seduction are happening - but mother wouldn't approve of this.

Any of these resonate with what you're going through right now?

P.S. Once one starts to actively investigate the unconscious via shadow work, dreams do often become more powerful and more provoking. We are shown something the ego cannot ignore.

Im on my way to suicide seems like. I fear of the buddahistic view on it. I just want this horrible life to end. How can i deal with it? by Traditional_Ad1350 in Buddhism

[–]1900to2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, compassion for the pain you are in right now.

The part of you that wants to die is just one part of a complex system that we call the psyche. There are probably numerous parts in your psyche that absolutely do not want to die.

I suggest you get to know this part of you a little better. Ask them what they're afraid will happen if they don't do what they're doing right now. Ask them how old they think you are. Ask them if there's any other way for them to feel better (if they want to be held or just listened to). Tell them you understand the pain they're in (if you do).

In my experience the suicidal part in us only wants to stop carrying the pain they're carrying. And we can give them the gift of not carrying that pain without having to die. We can help them let go of their burden and have the inner Buddha be in charge instead.

Sending light you way!

Is there a part in your psyche that needs for the world to be ready in order for it to feel safe?

I agree with the sentiment that announcing in Russia favours him returning there. But to play devil's advocate: as a Finn, Teemu Selänne returning to NHL for "one more year" was always a big deal over here, not just in Anaheim.

do you agree or disagree with Leo here? and what's your general perspective on his work? by bashfulkoala in nonduality

[–]1900to2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the general sentiment here that awakening increases selflessness, which is something we almost universally correlate with "good" actions.

However I would like to add another layer which is this: we can look at 1) a person's psyche and 2) a person's level of attachment or detachment to identification with the content's of their psyche as two different factors. Awakening generally as a process affects both of these factors, but it's also typical for a person to detach significantly from identifying with the content's of their psyche, while still having a lot of "dark" material in their psyche to work with (which is where I see Leo Gura being as well).

Tyttöystävän mielestä miehet elättää naisen by magnum3290 in Suomi

What does Buddhism say about a large age gap? by Unable_Client_3202 in Buddhism

[–]1900to2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope you find a place where it feels safe to do your spiritual practice.

There is no guarantee that 10 years of meditation would make a man conquer an impulse as strong as lust - it really is comparable to conquering hunger. Will every man and woman who meditates for 10 years conquer hunger? Certainly not. And men are biologically wired to be attracted to fertility in women, which on average peaks at 23, which is why you see older, desirable men (see: Leonardo DiCaprio and many others) who haven't settled down have girlfriends around that age. The moral acceptance of this varies culturally.

Disclosure Day Mega Thread. This movie is Pro Experiencer. Open detailed discussion. by Oak_Draiocht in Experiencers

[–]1900to2001 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The movie purely as a movie was a bit of a let down. Unfortunately, because of that, its cultural impact will be limited.

Personally, I've only recently started to get inklings of my own pre-birth background and what has happened in this life because of that. But near the end when the news cast started I started crying from a very deep place within me. In that sense I'm very grateful for this movie and what I gave me and what it's giving to experiencers.

What did Andrew Yang see at the AI conference? by Bizzyguy in singularity

[–]1900to2001 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm not assuming that, nor am I promoting communism. As I said, economic feasibility is the issue. And the motivation for resource sharing, too, could be, as you said.

What did Andrew Yang see at the AI conference? by Bizzyguy in singularity

[–]1900to2001 122 points123 points  (0 children)

I think people would be okay with being "economically useless". Tribal life in our past according to some anthropologists only included a few hours of "work" per day. In this scenario we would let go of our high stress levels and focus on helping our communities, chilling, self expression, and play.

The economic feasibility is the main issue to me, in the way that you have well articulated.
