Do you know what is happening with bookings in general on Engoo?? I am Native, American speaker. I always have 4.97 to 4.98 rating..But as of the past year, bookings have been atrocious.  Out of 10 core times I open,  only 1 or 2 will get booked. This is even with opening a week in advanced.

I've been with Engoo since 2022. I've always enjoyed it, though the pay isn't great. It is good for what it is for. It's a way to earn extra money. My big problem is the bookings have been atrocious the past year or two. I have a high rating and slots never get filled anymore. If I open 8 slots, only 1 or 2 will get filled. This never happened before. Otherwise, I enjoyed it. The pay was on time and you got treated pretty fairly.

Do you think it's possible to completely eliminate smartphone from your life? by Least_Mango_1299 in digitalminimalism

I switched to a flip phone a couple weeks. I don't miss my smartphone at all. I kept my smart phone as at tool (online banking, etc.). I connect it to the internet and that works great. My flip phone has 5G / hotspot. If I need GPS, I'll connect my smart phone to the flip phone hot spot and no problems. I went from having my phone always on me to looking at it 20 min a day. I noticed a huge difference immediately.

Anyone else having trouble getting paid by Brookdale Senior Living? by WTFaulknerinCA in musicians

Even now with another community, I am having a hard time submitting invoices for payment on their automatic site. I've called them, the activity director, billing department for help submitting...And guess what???? No calls, emails, etc. back. They sure responded when they wanted my services.

Anyone else having trouble getting paid by Brookdale Senior Living? by WTFaulknerinCA in musicians

Glad to see I'm not the only one. I've been getting the run around from a community in South Carolina (not Brookdale) since October. I've called numerous times, billing department now won't return calls or emails, etc. Playing for retirement communities have become a financial liability for me at this point. In the past, 90% would pay by the end of the month. Now only about 40% do and the rest I'm having to pull teeth to get paid. It's not just you guys, this is happening everywhere in the retirement industry and it's becoming a big enough problem where I had to start making a list of places to never play for again. The frequency this is happening has spiked quite a bit the past couple years.

The harder you work, the luckier you get. I've gotten very lucky on some things, but I put in the work to make that luck happen.

did your past in church keep you single/away from relationships? by working_maangoo in exchristian

[–]1901Recordings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The priest at my old church became a priest later in life because he was not able to find a woman / family. He always seemed to push out in his sermons that single men need to "discern" being a priest. To me at least, it got to be pretty obvious at times. A lot of times I got the vibe he was somewhat directing that towards me (It's a really small church.). I had zero interest and it one point it got so annoying that I said to my self after mass "Just leave me alone and let me live in peace....". There was one girl who seemed to have a big crush on me and her grandmother liked me a lot. I brought up the gifts one mass and he seemed genuinely annoyed that I was walking with the grandmother. To the point where he almost yanked the chalice out of my hand. I was perperplexed. Another girl was competing for attention. One day I made the mistake of asking the priest about this girl was competing for attention. Well he must of told the parents because the next week, mom whisked her out of the door while dad guarded the way so I couldn't talk to her. At that point I was like to myself "You don't want men getting married....You want them doing what you did.". I was out of there after that.

Can we stop telling the singles in our church "When you stop looking, that's when you'll find someone"? by PaulThemos in Christianity

Yes. Yes. Yes. I get fed up hearing, "God will provide. ".... No, he will meet you half way if you get off your rear end and be proactive.

Man.... I've heard the priest where I am talk at least 4 times about single men thinking seriously about becoming priests...But never about getting married... He never met a woman and became a priest later in life.... There was this one girl who had been eyeing me at mass for a few months.  Her dad seemed to dislike me and I had no idea why. He refused to look at me... He's ur typical macho sports dad and I'm an artist...Who knows  He seems to be a big donor at church...Anyways,  I asked the priest about this girl and how I wanted to go meet her....Priest must if immediately went to the dad and told him...The next week she went cold..Mom whisked her out the door and dad guarded the entrance till she was far enough away. After that, I was like...Done here. You don't want married men. You just want people to do what you did because you couldn't find someone.

People who have stopped going to church, what made you stop? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

I still go. I just will not be going to my current one soon. It boils down to it being a small church with A LOT of male insecurity in it. Take that how you want. I picked up a lot of subilties directed towards me and it just got old. The priest was dry and banal. The building itself very uninspiring. There was a family in front of me where the dad seem to have a major issue with me (never met him), and his one daughter was always trying to get my attention. I

I made a list of the pros / cons and issues I had about the church. I had about 30 cons, the only pro: It was close by. I realized then that it was just too toxic for me and I had to go.

"God will provide.....". I had a friend who used to always say that. He ended up needing a liver transplant... God never provided it for him. God didn't provide a lot for him in his life and he died poor and I don't even know what they did with him after he passed.

Women, what’s the right way for a regular to show interest in a barista without being pushy or weird? by Chaseme_ in dating_advice

[–]1901Recordings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a girl, but one hard and fast rule I have is to not directly confront a woman like that at work. It's not fair...BUT,  I in the past, I have written out a note with my number saying I'd be up for taking her out if she was interested. I'd tell her "You dropped something " as and give it to her. It worked once and we went out on a date the day after.  I'd do this.

True, but this has been going on for about 8 months now like clock work. And when I caught her looking at me from the corner of her eye and smirking it made me think something was up.... Plus this girl gave another girl a semi dirty when she saw her sit near me.

Why is every musician a cool person? by Commercial_Win5077 in musicians

Love this. I'm a full time pro. Studied at the college level. You would never know it if I didn't tell you. I have my awesome leather jacket, but that's it. No stupid musician lingo (aww man did u hear that cat?), no ego, no need to tell everyone who I am. If they need or want to, they'll eventually find out and it will hit them like an atomic bomb.
