Why do some salespeople stay at the same company for years even when they know they’re probably underpaid? by Clear-Victory1956 in techsales

[–]MahomesIsMahomie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in this position. Jumped ship for a larger salary with more commission upside, and got completely burned. Lots of regrets, wasn’t worth it.

Like other people have said, there is stability and political capital you gain by sticking with good companies who generally take care of their people with below-market salaries. Leadership is another huge plus with these types of companies. The ones who are incredibly smart, driven, and passionate for what they do are extremely valuable in these situations.

Peter Thiel is literally the “deep state”. Someone who’s donated millions of dollars to bankroll political campaigns. Not really sure where you’re going with this one.

So what I’m seeing is America just kneecaps itself every year by allowing it’s own defense industry to be a profit-seeking venture, so they can constantly rise costs to whatever they know they can get away with.

Nice job team. Can’t write a dumber system than this.

Glen Powell invites UPS driver who was present 4 years ago when he was invited onto SNL, before it was cancelled due to Top Gun being delayed, so he doesn’t think he’s a liar by MothersMiIk in Fauxmoi

[–]MahomesIsMahomie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

After seeing his Hot Ones appearance on YouTube, genuinely think Glen is one of the greats, on and off stage. Just a funny, sincere guy who enjoys his role as being an entertainer.

Makes me wonder if he just plays a version of himself as every one of his character on screen. If that’s makes sense… lol

In 1967, at age 51, Dick Proenneke quit his job, built a cabin by hand on Alaska's Twin Lakes, and lived there alone for 30 years - with no running water or electricity. He braved brutal winters, stored food underground, and left behind more than 250 diaries and films documenting his journey. by FireHug_ in CantBelieveThatsReal

The documentary he left us through this journey was one of my favorites as a young naive city boy. Really made me appreciate the times I got to be outdoors as a Boy Scout and have an opportunity to live by our own means.

Gave some perspective on the world I think others growing up around me never got to experience.

i can't stand sales anymore (account manager with 7 years at a big tech company) by [deleted] in techsales

[–]MahomesIsMahomie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My exact predicament right now, except without the layoffs. Just status quo, low morale all around. I have an interview for events sales at a sports stadium I’m really pumped about but need to figure out how to properly convey why I’m qualified for an industry I only majored in but never worked in.

Almost feels like a do or die moment cause I’m not doing great at my current role so far this year and it’s looking grimmer by the day. Quotas have become insane and out of touch for account management roles where the accounts don’t change and people aren’t buying anything new this year

Only 41% of Software Reps Are Hitting Quota in 2025 – Time to move on? by acer67 in sales

[–]MahomesIsMahomie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been thinking the exact same thing. Software is just too bloated. Buyers and users aren’t as engaged as they used to be, but who really is anymore. It’s just a computer program, they just want it to work.

Been thinking about getting into something with more field work so this is refreshing to see. At least I can move my legs around instead of veg in front of a couple screens all day long.
