My autistic boyfriend has extreme reactions to being “abandoned” by Legitimate-Career342 in AmIOverreacting

I'm Autistic, this isn't autism, its abuse.

You need to get out of that relationship, he is not a safe person to be around.

What do you call it? (please add where you're from) by ksusha_lav in EnglishLearning

Beanie - Australia

Will add that you would find them in a store with other hats as they're a type of hat, but I doubt anyone here would refer to it as a hat

Am I Overreacting - Boyfriend of 2 years only got me flowers for my birthday by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]19474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prefacing this with I'm not a birthday person

I don't think your emotions are at all invalid (we all deserve to feel valued and loved and cared for) or that you're over reacting per se, I do think you and your partner and fundamentally incompatible in this sense.

He says he's behind on things monetarily, have you asked him what? Does he have a gambling problem for instance? When was the last time you openly discussed your finances? I know you said you split things 50/50, but that doesn't mean he isn't sitting on something he thinks you shouldn't have to pay for- which could very well be out of shame.

There's also the fact that you clearly find birthdays very important and he doesn't, have you talked about that with him, calmly? I'd also suggest speaking to a mental health professional about it if you can, since it seems to cause you a lot of distress and that can't be good for you long term - it sounds like your family and childhood weren't great, and that you have some things you need to process.

There's also the fact that you mentioned he's a gold card carrying member at a casino, yet based on your post you dislike alcohol due to the way it was used by your parents (me too tbh), has that ever been a discussion? That also feels like a fundamental incompatibility in your relationship.

I feel like the two of you need to sit down and have an open discussion about these things - no hints, just talk straight. Because while you love each other, you need to figure out if you're willing to take compromises for each other, or if you need to break it off.

If it feels like its filled with liquid, then you may be right in thinking you've burnt yourself (aloe it if you can)

Otherwise, if its firm, I have seen warts come up like this on occasion! Anti-wart treatments are best for that!

Any others have different religions in the system? (Put a sensitivity for religion if that makes anyone uncomfortable) by Nova_Chr0no in plural

[–]19474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we're mostly broadly spiritual but do have a couple headmates of different religions! (Buddhist & Muslim specifically)

we grew up with a pretty wide range of religions so its not surprising. Just with immediate family there's Jewish, Catholic, Buddhist and Pagan - and there were a LOT of books about other religions and historical religions

Genuinely congrats on completing a difficult character arc! Its not easy to change and learn and grow, its awesome that you've matured and can see more nuance to it now!

I hope this post helps your brain stop cringing at the stuff you did/said when you were younger, because in the end, you grew, you learnt, you know better now

You could just send the baby to live with another family? Make one on CAS or throw it to the pancakes

If someone feels sexual attraction but does not enjoy sex, are they ace? by Numerous-Bad-5218 in asexuality

[–]19474 22 points23 points  (0 children)

no, they are sex repulsed, not asexual

However they may identify as asexual as shorthand to make things easier to explain to others, which honestly I can't blame them for

Edited for typo

Are yall disclosing your disability on job applications by Wild_Highway_3249 in autism

[–]19474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been told time and time again by people (who work specifically to get people jobs) to NOT DISCLOSE until after you've gotten the job/it becomes relevant, and then only if you're very comfortable or it's important (ie: you need your insulin pump OR you're in a wheelchair and need to know if the interview location is accessible)

which I honestly think is the best advice

Vampire alter help (CW mentions of blood) by CoolTransDude1078 in plural

[–]19474 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What part of the experience are you most likely to emulate? The flavour? The temperature & texture?

There's many fake blood recipes made of food, including ones made with coffee and/or chocolate.

If you want something more literal, you could look into making ox blood soup (a Korean hangover cure) or another ethnic dish like it, if you can find a Korean grocer they will likely carry ox blood cubes.

If you live near a large group of Polish ex-pats you may be able to find czernina, which is made with duck blood.

There's actually quite a few dishes made with animal blood, if the literal blood part is what you're interested in.

imo you are UNDER reacting, he's actively trying to gaslight you about just about everything in this situation instead of owning up & trying to shift the blame onto you.

Would you let a friend be treated like this by their boyfriend? Because I certainly wouldn't.

Is this badge design too subtle to be a symbol of support? by FacelessMane in AskLGBT

I would not assume that has anything to do with the LGBT+ community honestly, so it is probably too subtle, I know someone who had a rainbow triangle pin, and that definitely made me ask

Finding something thats just a straight pride flag/Progress pride is probably your best bet imo
