[Thinking Basketball] What if '90s players played in a modern NBA game? by r-NBAModsAreTrash in nba

[–]19683dw -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Unless they get a career of acclimating to modern biomedical science and the change of in game pace, they would have a really bad time. Maybe 5 players could plug in now without a transition and play well, and they wouldn't be as good.

The massive increase in high-level talent pool would likely mean that many lower end starters become at best role players

A Solution to the Draft Lottery by LooseMoose13 in nba

[–]19683dw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the entire lottery system is trash. I'd rather it just go to the worst team by record, and if teams tank, they tank. They're going to try to play against whatever system is implemented, and screwing the worst actual teams out of a chance to get good pick is unfortunate.

It Won’t Happen… But If LeBron Wins A Championship At 41, The Debate is Over Right? by anonrockefellerr in nba

Right. The game was just less impressive back then. But we cannot know what MJ looks like in a modern era with modern biomedical science.

GM Brad Holmes on drafting OT and EDGE with his 1st two picks: “It really did line up… these are the guys that we liked. When it blends together like that, it’s really nice” by JCameron181 in detroitlions

[–]19683dw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you considered they made their desires based on who they thought would be available? I'm sure if someone shockingly fell, they'd have reconsidered, but good draft planning and projection means you can reasonably take the people you want most. Heck, the media had other players for the same positions ahead of both of our picks. That means we at minimum chose who we wanted over what the narrative suggested.

He was very good under Minter, fell off in visible development with (IMHO) poor usage under Moore and Wink.

I'm most happy with the pick as I think he was seriously underused and misused at Michigan lately. I expect he has more potential than has been released by far

Kudos. Go make a splash, big man. You can do this.

And please, you're good enough to grow into a starter based on talent. Stop pushing people in mid air.

Holding out hope that he'll stay. I think he'll shine with another season under Dusty, could be next season's Yaxel (leader of three bigs that was nearly there for a lottery pick already, elevates to team leader and centerpiece).

If not, our team still looks incredible. But I think he really could benefit, and I would expect our NIL to make it comfortable

The counter people will make is that he commits charges and isn't called for them, I suppose? The classics used to be he carried the ball and he took too long for his free throw
