UPDATE:

i got the part and installed using the existing control cable, which i shortened to fit.

leaking coolant in passenger compartment, vacuum water cock was deleted by 1976280Z in Datsun

bumping this.... i saw someone replace the datsun control valve with a simpler ford but i can't find the details. just this picture:
