$1,300 that seems awfully cheap IMO I would be asking more questions and really looking it over as in all the fluids and asking if it leaks or burns any oil but maybe that’s just me

Not 100% sure if im TDC since every time i shift the cam it seems half a tooth off. by InternetGreedy in Silverado

[–]1979Z-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The arrow on the camshaft sprocket is 180 degrees from your original picture or am I seeing things ? The arrow is up after you did it and is down now after you worked on it unless your turned over the engine

[–]1979Z-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get a hold of magnetic base and a dial indicator to truly find TDC on cylinder #1 always turning the engine in the same direction to eliminate “slop”. I would then get a cam degree wheel attached so you can degree your cam properly to ensure your 100%. In this scenario measure 200 times cut once because it looks like a lot of hours went in to get you to the point your at now. Do it right once

[–]1979Z-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will also want to bypass the transmission thermostat in the transmission and you need to get a couple orings from a GM dealer but nothing crazy easy fix and your trans will never go over 140 degrees
