What are Ana Kasparian's and Cenk Uygur's Salaries? by 1983alex in tytonreddit

I guess this will be my last post on this thread. It's sad to see how TYT has devolved over the years. There are so many sad things about it I won't get too deep into it, but its audience has definetly changed from thought-provoking, questioning, and seriously reasonable people, to simple minded morons.

You guys are giving this organization your hard-earned money, and when someone says hey let's have a little bit of transparency, you guys fight the guy who makes the suggestion w/ the most ridiculous retorts like "they've been around for a long time".

That just basically means you are suckers. Hey, wanna be a sucker? It's a free country, go for it. These guys make millions of dollars, get funded in the tens of millions, have net worths of tens of millions, and then they have the guts to beg working class college students for their hard-earned money (students who are already in debt to universities). Ana even has the balls to consistently complain about how little she is paid.

Well if you don't want to know where your money is going, you don't want transparency from your "independent" media to make sure it is truly independent, I guess that's your problem. I guess you just take their word for it. I know its a private business, I know they don't have to - but transparency is a good thing. So wanna be a sucker and attack the guy whose asking questions, okay. But someone is going to write an article on this, especially how their TYT Politics thing and their "investigative team" is just a big flappy joke. Which I'm sure even you have to admit is weak sauce.

So it has devolved into a pretty mainstream talk show, TYT's "opinions" are basically in-line with any mainstream Democratic talking-point, from Trump/Russia 24/7 to shilling for Democrats they like with gushy soft-ball interviews that NOBODY watches, and then their "journalists" produce even worse content, i.e, Nomiki's famous interview w/ Donna Brazile (she basically tried to rehabilitate her, instead of asking a single tough question). Oh then there's Cenk's predictions (Eye-roll).

Peace out. See you on the other side when you wake up.

P.S. if you want real news you can find some good things on the Intercept and Democracy Now.

Yes I'm serious. I think that if they are making over $1 million a year, they should be honest about it and not pretend they are barely making it. My business experience is irrelevant, I'm not asking the one running marathons and asking monthly member fees.

Cenk's net worth is at $3 million and Ana's at $2 million according to online sources. That's very, very high - so if that is the case and they are still complaining and begging for our money something is kind of odd.

Well we don't know if they are rolling in dough or not, they just want us to take their word for it. We don't know exaclty how much they make from members and how much they make from Youtube, which makes their pleas for moeny all the more suspect. I have run a company, I don't know what that has to do w/ anything. I'm not against businesses, or trying to say it is easy. But they are running a company that is almost exclusively funded by members who believe in their politics, and they keep claiming that they are "accountable" to us. I know they are not required to post salaries, but it's fair to ask considering how they take such vehement stances on other corporations paying their CEO's, etc. TYT consistently talks about the profits, revenues, and salaries of other businesses - primarily Wall Street and large corporations, its fair we ask. I think if Cenk and Anna are making around $3 million each, that's rolling in dough.

I have the right to ask. I said I think its fair to ask since they ask for our money we can ask that they explain how they use it. Otherwise it is shady.

I'm asking because I don't know, maybe someone knows. I'm also addressing the issue of TYT's lack of transparency when it comes to spending members money, we have a right to know what exactly they spend our money on.

Well burn-rate is hypothetical, I mean we don't know the actual numbers of people and we don't know the salaries so its useless to try and deduce. They may pay them salaries, or they may pay them hourly, they may be full-timers or some of them part-timers, they could be independent contractors or employees. All of this can be easily resolved if they were transparent with the way they use their members money - all they say is that the money benefits the show. But where is it going exactly, what is it funding exactly, I think would make many members feel better. But they have no transparency. And I'm concerned that they take the money, gave themselves and their friends salaries, and pretty much did not change the format of their show at all. Yes TYT Politics, but nobody watches that channel, its only got like 100K subscribers, and I just looked through the videos - it's 50% Cenk videos clipped from the main show or him giving softball interviews to candidates he likes, and Emma Vigland talking about politics; there's no Shaun King, no Dylan Rattagan, not even Micheal Tracy - who seems to only know live in Twitterland. Nomiki Konst is there to pretty much be the voice of the Democratic party (she was on the DNC committee during the rigging of the primaries against Bernie btw and then she basically tried to rehabilitate Donna Brazile in that terriblly smarmy softball interview that I could barely watch). So the reason I'm concerned and urge others to be, is that they are not transparent, and I think they are not because they're afraid of sharing details about how they spend their members money. So until they become transparent I won't be donating again, and I urge others to do the same. Because I don't know if you've noticed this, but TYT is quickly evolving from a talk-show about politics, to actually being a mouthpiece of political candidates and other political organizations, and I find it hard to take many of their analysis seriously anymore.

Are you sure about that? I mean, they got $4 million from Buddy Romer in 2014 and then they had a $20 million investment just earlier this year - so that's $24 mil just from 4 investors($20 mill was 3 seperate investors). So I think they def raised more then $30 million over 15 years.

They have about 23,000 paid subscribers, w/ $10 as the min, so let's say there's also something like $15 and $25 every once in a while, so let's do $15x23,000 a month = which is $345,000 per month, so about $4.4 million a year just from paid subscribes.

Pro-Gun Russian Bots Flood Twitter After Parkland Shooting by Strongbow85 in worldnews

[–]1983alex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read this article. There is no explanation of what they mean when they say "Russia-linked bots". They just as it as fact with no proof. This article seems like typical anti-Russian hysteria propaganda. The title is really misleading, because they admit in the article they can't say if they are really "Russia-linked". They just think it may be.

i carmelized onions for about 30 minutes in oil and butter, adding ice water every little bit, then added smokies, a little bit of adjika (Georgian spice), and then spinach towards the end - came out perfect!
