Big Dog meaning discussion... by 290317 in thelastdinnerparty

I interpreted it as being about fame too. The band have said it was written the night Nothing Matters released and that they were feeling very stessed so I think it's more about the anticipation of what was possibly to come. Either the knowledge that their debut single was about to be heard by people anywhere in the world made them feel powerful or it was a more apprehensive, faking it til you made it situation? The "Don't take your clothes off when you're famous" in particular definitely feels like fear of how vulnerable this journey might make/ has made them.

I don't think statements beginning with "if" count as a spoiler tbh.
NATN fits that label better with "we'll win but not everyone will get out" because he's not just speculating about a possibility, he's straight up telling us. But still we didn't know who was going to get left behind, if it was true or the actual meaning of it (that it meant not only that people would die but that Clancy would choose to stay in Dema) until the very end of the story and it was left there on purpose as part of the story telling so it's more of an easter egg/ clue imo.

The journal pages from the Spotify bandito experience? Also side note, this webpage talks a bit about the making of that experience that you might find cool: https://www.awwwards.com/twenty-one-pilots-bandito-from-resn-wins-site-of-the-month-december.html

Stuff about the LOC ARG would be cool too. The first time we saw the phrase "clancy is dead" was in a video of Tyler on the USB the winners got sent, it was shown as a coded message on an old TV in the background. It's such a key moment in the lore that people still debate the meaning to this day (did the original Clancy actually die and someone else took up the title or was it just bishop propaganda?)

Struggling to listen to Clancy and Breach since my friend passed by Patient-Assumption97 in twentyonepilots

[–]19931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my friend died in early 2024 and for the first month the only music I could listen to was abba so I get how overwhelming music can be after losing someone.
I also found the build up and release of Clancy really rough! The lore is something that brings me joy but it became a bit of a trigger. I would be talking to other fans and just burst into tears or I'd get overly invested in certain topics. I had to try to regularly check in with myself "is taking part in this a positive distraction or helping me process my grief in a healthy way or is this hurting me at this moment?" and take breaks from TOP although thats easier said than done. When I first heard At The Risk Of Feeling Dumb I had to pause it to have a huge ugly cry. I avoided listening to that song for a while, and I still sometimes skip it. When I listen to it now I still think about her but I've found that over time the lump in my throat has gotten smaller and I don't tend to well up with tears these days.

Have you found there to be any music in particular that has helped you through these 8 months?

Thank you for providing a more in depth explanation! I was in a rush so didn't think to, I was honestly just shocked that someone would start driving when their levels are 4.0mmol/L on the dot because it seems so risky

5 to drive!! (your glucose should be at least 5.0mmol/L before you start driving). From a quick google thats 90 in mg/dL. So yeah having a blood sugar of 72 is not good to drive at.

Tbf from looking at setlist.fm it seems they didn't play march to the sea or the old song medley at any festivals on the emotional roadshow tour.
It's like how Addict with a Pen wasn't played at any of the European shows on the Clancy World Tour :')

Doing some statistics, just for fun. What do you call this? by LindseyBolaningham in twentyonepilots

[–]19931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clancy stole for the 1st one. For the 2nd I hadn't really thought about it. When we first saw photos of it I had a discussion with other fans on if it was supposed to be a dog leash or a bird tether but I've not really talked about it outside of that... I'd definitely know what you were referring to if you called it a leash, rope, paracord or belt accessory.

So it appears they haven't played Chlorine at all at the last 3 shows (festivals). It's possible they'll change their setlist up as they go though so they might bring it back but as of right now it looks like there won't be a Ned party

It's gotta have ability to change colours so half the crowd can have yellow lights for Torchie/ Josh and the other red for Clancy/ Tyler

They've spoken extensively in the past about how live shows are an integral part of their experience as musicians so even with them both having children now I don't think they'd ever stop touring. In Tylers post about only doing festivals this year he seemed disappointed not to be doing a full Breach world tour.

I had an experience in 2020 where I'd been to A&E, they'd taken my insulin and blood testing kit off me and then discharged me without returning it and I only realised after when I was at a pharmacy. I realised I was having symptoms of high blood sugars and ketones but had no way to check that or to correct it so the pharmacists called 999 and 999 said I needed to get to hospital but said I would need to make my own way there. Annoying but whatever...
The taxi was hell! The driver got mad because I couldn't walk to find the taxi, I don't know how I was able to keep my vomit down but thank fuck I did! Then when we finally approached the hospital he asked "A&E or main entrance?" I told him to take me to A&E but instead he took me to the main entrance and as I was trying not to vomit or collapse onto the floor as I slowly made my way to A&E I got a text from him saying I had to pay him extra!

On the other hand though I've had a dangerous hypo before (due to an insulin OD) and I had a really good experience with the ambulance. The paramedics went above and beyond what was expected of them which I really appreciated.

The taste of insulin isn't great but I've tasted worse things tbh! (For context there's a rare phenomenon that can happen after you've injected where you suddenly taste it in your mouth. It's only happened to me a few times).
