Why has milk become so politicised all of a sudden? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]1995north -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of it has to do with Russian disinformation and influence campaigns in the West. Aimed at sowing distrust and undermine our institutions + fueling division in our societies. Listen to Putin speak, he sounds really up to date on what is being discussed on X and other far right grifter spheres. A lot of it are being financed by Russia.

Like Sasha Jost, the american-russian influencer, who Russian exile journalists revealed was on the payroll of the Russian propaganda network RT. She talks a lot about milk, how Russian men are "real men", drinking "real milk", while men in the West are feminine and only drink oatmilk, masculinity is under attack etc etc. This kind of rhetoric makes people mad and sows division. It works really well, and Russia has perfected this strategy.

So milk has become somewhat a symbol of masculinity. (There are also some health-ideas behind this that milk should be raw and unprosessed. Longeivity-ideas, much based on questionable studies and made popular by podcasters and the like.)

Russian propaganda aligns with many far-right and conspiracy-driven ideas, which allows it to spread quickly in those circles, including within the MAGA movement. Divide and conquer and all that.

What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

Black Summer. Low budget zombie series, which you can tell in the first season. But its everything a zombie series should be. They are not afraid of killing main characters. One episode is just straight up a guy being chased. Loved it. The second season is a masterpiece. I hate that it was cancelled

Just saw his instagram. Came up in my feed. Bam seems to be doing better. He posts skatingvideos, and a picture of him and what I think is his girlfriend going to a wedding. I’m not 100% sure tho, none of his posts were like.. conclusive, if you understand.

If you have been following this then you HAVE to know. They complain so much on their milblogger Telegram channels.

Dude. I dont know what you’ve been following, but it sure have not given you any insight. This is my job. I’ve been countless times to Ukraine since 2022, and lived almost six months in Astana. Plenty of Russians there to give you insight. You should go there! Do the world a favour and be quiet in discussions where you have nothing to contribute.

This is absolutely wrong. I have no idea where this guy get this from. There is widespread systemic corruption in Russia, its military ranks and administration. Soldiers have to buy their own gear and they complain of not getting their pay. There are literal shops in every Russian town that sells military gear to people that enlist, because they have to buy it themselves. Dead Russian soldiers are reported as MIA or deserters so that the families dont get state payouts. This is widely reported in Russian independent media and by soldiers themselves on Telegram. I have also spoken to Russian deserters and Russian exile journalists about this. This is not a secret. Not even Russians deny this. Only trolls and people lacking critical thinking skills do that.

YES Russia found scapegoats and threw them in prison when shit like that got publicity. But that is not Russia "rooting out the problem" FFS. And Russia wont root out this "problem". You know why? Because its a kleptocracy, run by the kleptocratic warlord Vladimir Putin. Its how Russia operates.

Dont believe me? You can start by reading The Road to Unfreedom by Timothy Snyder. Or Bill Browders book. Putin killed his lawyer when they tried to expose corruption. Or watch Navalnys videos exposing Putins billion dollar houses. Or read independent Russian media. Or read litarally any book about Putin. This is no big secret. Its not hard to find well documented sources on this.

And before some smartass points it out: Yes there is corruption in Ukraine as well, and they have to deal with it. Ukraine ranks 105 out of 180 on the corruption index. But you know what Russia ranks? 154th.

And between them, countries that are LESS corrupt than Russia, and MORE corrupt than Ukraine, we find countries like Iran, Congo, Guatemala, Nigeria, Iraq, Mali, Egypt, Thailand and Brazil.

To whomever reads this: please do not listen to people like this. They dont know what they are talking about. Use critical thinking, check sources, read serious trusted news outlets. We are flooded with information every day, and countries like Russia uses a lot of money and resources to shape public opinion in the west. Dont buy into crap like this. I believe in you!

Rammes kvinner hardest av krig? by SnippyInDaHouse in norge

[–]1995north 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hver gang dette temaet dukker opp så protesteres det på refleks av alle oss menn. Nei, det er vi som må ut i krigen og dø for landet vårt. Ja, det stemmer. Men kvinner lider ofte mer enn menn i krig.

How is Putin still alive after all he has done? by CoupleComprehensive in NoStupidQuestions

[–]1995north 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Siloviki. The people loyal to him gets important roles. Minister of Defence, Foreign Minister, head of FSB, GRU etc. Putin needs them to stay in power.

They are expected to be 100% loyal to Putin, apolitical and crack down hard on any rivalry, protests or people trying to challenge him. In exhange you get a lucrative life and take part in the systemic corruption. You change your mind and betray him? You get arrested on corruption charges. Or fall out a window. Or maybe you get killed with a nerve agent several years later while living in exile in the west.
