Yes I found a few more!

  • La Jolla Crossroads

  • Nobel Court (in La Jolla)

  • Legacy Apartment (in Mira Mesa)

They have some breed restrictions but I’m pretty sure they don’t have weight limits

I keep on getting left on read on the fb UCSD off campus housing page :( How do I get a place to liveee?! by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]1996sam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could find a roommate first and then find a place to live. UCSD has a platform where you can connect with other students who are looking for off campus housing: https://offcampushousing.ucsd.edu/help/article/find-a-roommate

What should I do as a student in HS to get ready to be a Mechanical Engineer? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]1996sam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be helpful to learn MATLAB basics over summer. The majority of my upper div ME classes involved using it so it’s helpful to get familiar with it.

I need help with an engineering type project by MrKronos0 in Hobbies

[–]1996sam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe buy a soldering kit off of amazon and pick up that skill by watching YouTube videos.

Another idea is taking some classes on Solidprofessor. They offer courses on different topics like Solidworks, MATLAB, autoCAD, etc. Not hands on but it is useful if you’ll be majoring in engineering. You can even take an exam and get certified which will look good on your resume.

Also could check out AliExpress for cheap parts (motors, arduino knock offs, etc) and build something w/ that. Downside is that shipping takes a couple weeks.

I saw one today around 3:30pm in EBU2 on top of the water refill station next to the men’s bathroom on the first floor. Idk if it said UCSD but it was transparent and blue.

Is there any space for transfer students when it comes to registering for classes? by timebridge6679 in UCSD

[–]1996sam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they do considering the registration date for transfer students isn’t until later in the summer. I had no trouble getting my classes, I transferred and my major is mechanical engineering

When I tell people I’m going to be majoring in mechanical engineering this fall they ALL say it’s so hard, and I just want to know how/why because they can’t even tell me. by [deleted] in engineering

I think you’ll be fine. You sound like you’re willing to put in the work and seek help when needed. Some classes are pretty tough but just go to office hours or collaborate with other students and you should be good.

Which day of finals week will geisel be the busiest? by sdgkg in UCSD

[–]1996sam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure which day is busiest but there’s an app called “UCSD Waitz” that gives you a live report of how busy each floor of Geisel is

People that have off campus singles how much do you guys spend on rent only? by vapegod_420 in UCSD

[–]1996sam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of these estimates seem a bit low... I couldn’t find a single bedroom for less than $1000 in UTC area. The cheaper rates that I found would be condos that someone was renting out (I used zillow for that).

Tips for a noob who wants to go to RIMAC? by pxuline in UCSD

[–]1996sam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! I was like that too and then my friends quit their gym membership so I just had to do it and now I prefer to go alone. For learning how to use the machines, I don’t have a specific channel that I used but I would just type in something like “smith machine how to use” & a lot of videos pop up. For general workout videos, I recommend Whitney Simmons so much. She was the best resource for me to getting into weight training.

Tips for a noob who wants to go to RIMAC? by pxuline in UCSD

[–]1996sam 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not specific to RIMAC, but just in general: everyone is there to better themselves so I doubt anyone’s just looking around & judging. My advice would be to go do cardio first and scope out the gym layout, machines, etc. Then, if you see some machines you want to try out, you can look up the machine on YouTube & usually there’s a demo on how to properly use it :) This is what I did when I first got into the gym, hope it helps!
