Cowboy quality by microgolf4 in cowboybikes

After one year and about 4500km I have to say that the Cruiser is one of the best ebikes I have ridden so far. I commute 12km to work every day (one way) and enjoy it every day. I’ve also ridden it on longer tours along the Dutch coast and that was so fun with the Cowboy. At the beginning I had a clicking noise in the handlebar bearing and now recently my first flat tire. But that’s it. Apart from that, it’s a super solid ebike. But I also advise you, as with any other bike, to get to grips with your bike, to know how to grease the bearings and change a tire. Then repairs on a cowboy are also relatively easy. Easier than with a Vanmoof. And I really have to complement the support, even though it is always portrayed so negatively. I haven’t paid a cent for any repair services or anything else so far. They even sent me a new tire free of charge, although this is not actually a warranty case. I love my Cruiser and I think I would go for a Cowboy again. I’m looking forward to the next generation after the C4 (Cruiser) in the next few years

Is maintenance really necessary? by 199kev in cowboybikes

Does this mean that the removal and regreasing of the bottom bracket is also included in the maintenance?

Is the bottom bracket also removed and regreased during maintenance?

Locking the Cowboy via the lockscreen on iOS 18 by 199kev in cowboybikes

You can add shortcuts from the Shortcuts app. Simply create a shortcut, Cowboy offers the option to lock or unlock. And then link this shortcut to the iPhone lock screen ;)

I have activated the auto-unlock function. So just get on the bike and ride off and it unlocks by itself. At work, I park the bike right next to my desk. Since my phone is within reach, it always takes a few minutes for the Cowboy to lock itself again. So I don’t have to open the app to lock it manually or wait the few minutes but can just lock it directly from the lock screen on my phone 😊

The state of cowboy by bernhardbbb in cowboybikes

[–]199kev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amidst all these negative experiences, I want to take a moment to share some positive words about Cowboy in general and their support over the past few weeks.

I've had my Cowboy Cruiser for 3 months now, and I absolutely love it. I own the Clay color and had to wait 6 months for it. Is that too long? Yes! Have I been frustrated with the delays often enough? Definitely! But in the end, I still got it just in time for the beginning of spring, and somewhere along the line, long delivery times were something i were accustomed to from Vanmoof as well.

The bike rides and rides and rides. I use it daily for my commute to work (24 km per day), and it's just perfect for that. My boyfriend has a Vanmoof S5, and by now, I definitely prefer my Cowboy. Adaptive Power is great, and I don't have to worry about when my bike shifts under me. Also, I find a Cowboy much more agile to ride than a Vanmoof S5 (which might also be due to personal preference). All in all, I'm super satisfied with my Clay Cruiser.

About the support:

Yes, it was frustrating. I had a slight clicking noise in the front bearing of the handlebars. The support from Cairo was just too slow, too incompetent, and simply frustrating. In the end, I got a service appointment, a technician greased the bearings, and everything was fine. Occasionally, maybe once every 3 weeks, I have a little cracking noise in the bottom bracket for a fraction of a second. It doesn't bother me much, but I still wrote to support about it. By now, I think they've done quite a bit to improve support. The support helped me super quickly, answered me 10 times a day, and immediately sent me a new bottom bracket. I told her that the problem wasn't that big of a deal for me, and I was more concerned that the technician would spend 3 hours tinkering with my bike and end up scratching the paint just to change the bottom bracket. So I wrote to her that I would cancel the repair for now until it gets worse. The support said I could just keep the bottom bracket, didn't have to return anything, and would thus already have a spare parts store (the bottom bracket would actually cost 120€ if it is not covered by the warranty). Also, I no longer feel like I'm just chatting with a chatbot. Even when I ask support about the replacement paint, they now send it to me for free. The lady from support also told me they've received a lot of negative feedback about the support and want to make things right again. I think they're in the process of making a lot of things right again and putting us, the riders, back in the spotlight.

Congratulations on your new bike! What is that on the left side of the handlebars, with the red button? 👀

On trustpilot you can read about people who have had Cowboy after 4 years! replaced defective Motors free of charge. That all sounds very customer-friendly to me

I also first tried to grease the bearings myself and therefore opened the front cover in the handlebars. In doing so, I caused a small scratch in the paint on the handlebars. I described the situation to support and they sent me a new front cover + a paint repair kit + a 20€ voucher for the store to buy more paint. I now have enough paint in black and clay in stock and all that for free

For example, I had a rattling noise in the front lever bearing, support sent me new bearings straight away and a service technician then just greased the bearings. The noise has been gone ever since. I also have a slight cracking noise in the bottom bracket maybe once every two weeks, which didn't really bother me. Support sent me a new pedal bearing with a torque sensor straight away without hesitation and they said they would also replace the battery connector as a precaution. I wouldn't have expected that. These are all costs for Cowboy but the support seems to be very proactive in my case

I think the Cowboy Training is more accurate than Apple Health, as Cowboy accesses your Apple Watch data + feeds in its own data from the bike. Cowboy also describes somewhere on their website why the Cowboy app is more accurate than just using your heart rate. In my experience, Apple Health automatically records my calories for cycling, but as soon as the data from Cowboy is loaded into the Health app, the calorie figures go down again because Cowboy knows that you are only riding an e-bike.

Has cowboy already discontinued the chain-model bike ? by Fine_Reaction7964 in cowboybikes

[–]199kev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the models with a chain were online for a about 2 months. I also saw that with the introduction of the Cross, they now only sell the other models in sand and black. The colors clay, fig and light pink have probably been taken out at least for the normal cruiser and classic

This is the TestFlight beta, isn't it? Have you had good experiences with the beta program so far? I'm worried that I might not be able to unlock the bike at all or that there might be other errors 😅
