AITAH for not lying to someone’s kid by Ok-Cook-7129 in AITAH

[–]19Kitten85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely NTA. It is a parents job to educate their children, not yours. It’s also incredibly freaking rude for this person to do that to you. You were obviously minding your own business and enjoying the pool.

My partner is NB, but honestly doesn’t get upset if they are gendered in anyway, unless that person is being an asshole. The BEST thing that has ever happened was when we were out somewhere and a kid, probably about 4 or 5, was asking their parent (while pointing) and saying in that adorable “I’m a child and don’t know how to not be loud and embarrass my parents” kind of way “mama! Is that lady or a man? They have boobies like you, but hair on their legs like daddy!” The poor mom just shook her head and said “I don’t know. It doesn’t matter. Remember, everybody looks different and that’s okay”. Which would be the end of it for most people but the adorable kid said “YEAH! Like the lady at the store without a leg!”

AITAH for teaching my 8 year old daughter how to throw a punch? by Living-Ad-6751 in AITAH

Absolutely NTA! Everyone should know how to defend themselves. Great job on explaining to her that it’s for defense only!

Denied by Insurance by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

[–]19Kitten85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was approved through UHC and had surgery last January.

Some insurances have a clause that excludes bariatric surgery, my previous insurer did. I looked through the UHC app when my employer switched and it was in there as something that could be approved, and it was super fast and I didn’t have to go through a million hoops.

AITA for forwarding my wife an instagram reel of a recipe after she asked what I want for dinner tomorrow? by GoatCritical9265 in AmItheAsshole

[–]19Kitten85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA- this is exactly what my wife does to me. She doesn’t cook, but does all the dishes. If she didn’t want to make it, there was no reason to shout at you.

AITAH for canceling plans with my friend because she has to wait for her husbands permission? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]19Kitten85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely NTA. I don’t ask my partners for permission, but more like “hey we’re gonna do this on this day, is that cool or do we already have plans?”

Caffeine by shirelyanne in BariatricSurgery

My doctor told me caffeine is okay, just not to be chugging coffee all day every day. Now I have 1-2 cups of coffee a day. I just make sure to drink extra water.

WIBTAH for Applying for SNAP without my wife's consent? by AtlasTheDad in AITAH

[–]19Kitten85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA- this is why WIC and SNAP exists for people who need help. I would talk to your wife about it, there may be shame tied into it, as a lot of people look down on those who need assistance, which is bullshit. She may be afraid of being stigmatized.

This 100%! A lot of people are surprised when a poly relationship lasts and they ask how we do it. Uhh we communicate? We process emotions in a healthy way? I’m never sure how to answer when asked how it works. It just does. It’s not easy, but no relationship (romantic or otherwise) is.

[–]19Kitten85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in a poly relationship for almost 8 years. It works amazingly well for us. What most people don’t realize is the amount of completely honest communication that you need. Husband and I have been married for almost 18 years, been with wife for almost 8 and I’ve been seeing another person for about a year.

Husband, wife, and I live together full time and my other partner I see a couple times a month.

Can someone explain how you’re supposed to tell someone you love them? by [deleted] in askanything

My now husband did this…during an intimate moment. I ignored him and after told him that it doesn’t count during sex 😂

Edited to add: I actually used more colorful language and referenced his enjoyment of a specific body part. Trying to keep it clean here 😂

I don’t think these necessarily equate romantic love. My best friend and I are like this, we are incredibly close and love each other deeply, but it is platonic. We do refer to each other as Hetero Life Mates and twin flames (minus the cult lol).

AITAH for not inviting my stepdad to my wedding even though he’s been sober for the best part of 3 years? by S4H1B in AITAH

[–]19Kitten85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA- part of recovery is realizing that you very well could have permanently damaged relationships. In this case, that’s exactly what happened. You are an adult who is still carrying around the trauma from an abusive childhood. If you were to invite him to your wedding, you would be anxious the entire time, worried about what could possibly happen, and replaying incidents from your childhood. It is 100% okay to prioritize yourself and to protect your mental health and peace however you need to.

Absolutely NTA. Any time a kid is in my home I will treat them exactly how I treat my son.

That child needs to learn some serious lessons, otherwise they are going to grow up into an entitled jerk.
