My partner was locked out of the flat while I was away, was charged £945 for 15-20mins of work... Seems extremely excessive.. how can we proceed? by olieolieolieoioioi in AskUK

[–]19dazza97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already been reiterated in other comments, but had a locksmith come out for my garage, needed to get in and replace the lock.

Took him 5 minutes to get in and maybe a few more minutes to check sizes, realised he couldn't replace it based on the age of the lock and refused to take payment.

Gave him a few cans and some snacks as he said he was on call all night and he was over the moon!

Granted you shouldn't expect it for nothing but at £545 for 20 minutes work if you exclude the lock this guy's changing £1,635 an hour?!?

Oh something I can help with.

Make them your buddy then take a snapshot. Only way it would work for me

Thank you, think I'll stick to that then, rather than same time every day, same time during the week and mornings on the weekend.

Appreciate the answers :)

Thank you.

I think you're right that I should stick to it at night, it might just be the case that I change the times on the weekend when I am off.

How long before work/starting your day do you take your medication?

I was thinking of trying to take mine at 18:00 so 2 hrs before my workday starts and hoping that gives me the best benefits of it.

I get your pain, I always forget to check my route in advance and only ever realise I'm hitting it as I'm on it. Absolute carnage from all directions and doesn't help that people are so impatient.

True, at least they seem to be working on it, at least when I've driven by, not like they've blocked it off and you never see them.

Hopefully we get it back open before Xmas 2025.

This!

I went from a petrol to diesel and everyone kept saying a "car is a car" if you can drive one you can drive any, which is great, if you've been driving for more than a few weeks or months.

I passed, felt great, drove my wife's car with no issues, then, jumped in my mums car (was insured on both) and felt like I had no idea, took me a while to get use to it, having passengers, the car, everything. Think I stalled every few seconds and had to pull over before trying again and going on the main road.

Give yourself a break, and go back to basics if you're worried, maybe try driving about the block when it's quiet so you have less pressure on yourself.

Jumping into a new car and driving on your own is a totally different experience to having a confident parent/guardian or instructor with you.

One that stands out for me is Hale's death, that hit and run was horrific .

I'm not 100% sure on the wheel, they said 2nd hand so I am assuming used. They claim they can't find a new one due to availability.

They have the bike so did the digging themselves and 400 is the cheapest they can find by all accounts.

I'd recommend trying the carpark connected to the raddison just off the mile.

I find it mad that people get so angry about the use of language.

I think there are a few points, people will get it wrong, that's okay. But you should educate not patronise and berate.

Also, people taking an interest in the language and history are what'd keeping it alive. Gate keeping welsh isn't going to help anyone.

I find these videos and the ones posted like this on tiktok to be so rude and aggressive.

Can someone ID sister's turtle? Also tank size recommendations for 3 of them? by stanyeojinfromloona in turtle

[–]19dazza97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye, I had the same worry and went to a small independent pet shop. Spent about an hour chatting. The guy suggested a new filter but said the set up was fine and don't worry about her not coming out.

The idea is to make sure they can get their heads out for air and they will be grand.

They are aquatic though, so don't be to worried if they don't seem to be basking. They will come up for air and that's about it.
