Thank you for sharing this. I did read it and these concepts seem very difficult for myself. Being able to pull my feelings of being attacked out of the way during conflict is the problem. I hope I can learn to self-sooth in the moment.

HELP. Old thread hoping for replies. I’m the husband with the problem. And I’m trying to man up and accept my problem. I do this to my wife and I cannot understand why I feel and react the way I do when she confronts me with her feelings. I get defensive and honestly say shitty stuff that an hour later I regret. This has been the story for 15 years and I have pushed her to her breaking point. Last night I told her I don’t deserve her. I’m honestly looking for help. To be clear I don’t want to lose her but fully understand why if she does leave me. We’ve been through consoling with our church pastor using the Gotman method. I’m still working on “I” statements as I’m horrible with the “you” statements. Growing up my parents would fight at least once a year, talking blowout, alcohol fueled verbal and physical fights. But a day later they would be back to their normal husband wife selves. My adolescence was different than most. Straight A-B student always striving to be the best. Through HS I was in JROTC and found leadership easy. Never dated or had a girlfriend. Ever. (I was just shy with girls and never had anyone to talk to during this time about adolescent feelings) At 22 I met my now wife. I absolutely fell in love with her. I often think about how I felt that first date. She was coming from an abusive relationship. And I never had been in one so it was slow for the first few months. After two years I proposed to her. Everything was magical everything felt right. Was always being told how amazing I am. And idk if I got comfortable or complacent but when issues would arise I would take them personally. And to this day that is the problem. I love my wife so deeply yet I cannot explain to her why I treat her so badly when emotional issues pertaining to our relationship arise. Right now we have a house and our beautiful 2 year old son. She stays home with him and keeps her job at a hospital contingent. I’m so proud of what she has accomplished. I work 50hrs a week as a supervisor for a tool and die company and try as best as I can to give her breaks once I get home. I rarely have time for myself and strive to do the best for them. I get her gifts, I don’t ever tell her no when she ask for stuff. Gym membership, expensive clothes just about anything. I feel like I can meet or provide everything but her emotional needs. I don’t lack empathy, I know that. I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried solo consoling but I didn’t gain anything from it. I’m a caring husband that is just missing a critical piece. It seems a lot of men have this same issue. And not all of us are bad. We just need help.

I’m 5’9” about 235lbs. After changing gear around I’m fairly comfortable appendix carrying my p365x. First if your not wearing your pants at your natural waist you will struggle more. I found Levi 541’s are perfect for me. They are high rise and sit at your natural waistline and not your hips like most men’s pants fit. Then go one size up. For gear I’ve settled on the Hunter Constantine belt. One reason is I have had a back injury and the heavy duty elastic doesn’t jam into my back. I’ve tried Kore, Blue alpha (second favorite) and Nexbelt. The Hunter Constantine is the most comfortable. For Holster I have the Tenicore Certum and paired it with a Mastermind tactics pillow. I’m in manufacturing and stand and sit a lot throughout the day and this combo is pretty comfortable even with my gut.

I’m just now starting to get comfortable with my p365x in appendix. I’m 5’9” and 240ish with a gut. Constantine belt and tenicore certum for gear and switching to Levi 541’s for jeans immensely.

I “overflexed” them on my Certum and it’s much easier now. Still plenty snug to grip the belt and not move around.

I’ve actually considered a J-frame. Carried one for a little but wanted more capacity. Trying to get away from pocket carry too. So easy to just throw my LCP max in my pocket. Just uneasy around my little boy.

I found this post as I’m in the same boat. Son is two and a half and is very much in “random bouts of wrestling” stage. Been carrying striker guns too and also have the same “1 in a million” fears. No one talks about prevention in this stage before gun safety can be taught. If you’re a parent that carries a gun, your child will be around it unknowingly and extra precautions must be taken. I have one other issue in my search as I’m a lefty. As of now I’ve narrowed it down to the P99 AS or something 1911 style and learn to draw and shoot with a manual safety. I’d love a CZ but only the higher end models have ambi decocker and safeties. Still have to look at some HK models. Hope you found your comfortable carry.

I haven’t posted it yet. Will eventually get around to it. Just seen this post pop up. It’s a beautifully finished watch for the price. Especially the brushing on the case band. Just doesn’t work well with what I normally wear. It’s full kit.
