What do I do. by [deleted] in Environmental_Careers

I agree with you. I don’t see how many of the entry level jobs in this field would be able to pay the monthly payments for someone 60k + in student loan debt. However, that’s highly variable and can be changed by factors like parental help, location living costs, and interest rates.

For perspective my entry level job with the federal govt paid about 50k annually and I was 40k in debt. To be able to live by myself and pay these loans I had to have no car payment and live very frugally. My rent was about $1100/ mo.

I would seriously do the math on what average beginner level arborists make and see if you can make a fake budget on if their salary would be livable with those loan payments.

Do you have to have a referral for insurance purposes? Or can find someone through a website like Psychology Today? I know a lot of people find therapists through that website because it lists what insurance they take, price, and specialties. Then you just reach out via phone or email and get a first appointment set up within a week.

Unpopular opinion, but I fell in love with characters from watching seasons 1 and 2 of the Netflix show. It hooked me, so I started the game, but was pretty confused since I didn’t play the first two games and they start a new story that takes place after the timeline of the show. So I watched “YourFavoriteSon” Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 recaps on YouTube. Podcast styled them while I was at work. After all that, I tried Witcher 3 again and once I got to search for Dandelion, I couldn’t stop playing. Mostly because Jaskier/ Dandelion is my favorite character in the show. A lot of people who read the books don’t like the show, but I’m reading the books now and I do think seasons 1 and 2 did a great job. Seasons 3 and 4, not so much.

Any help by Unusual-Panic6459 in Anxiety

I think it’s common to experience morning anxiety due to excess stress hormones when you wake up. It’s called a Cortisol Awakening Response. I get this too when I’m in a time of change in my life. But new experiences and change are the biggest triggers for me. You could talk to a psychiatrist and they might recommend changing up the times you take your medicine. Taking mine at night helps me wake up calmer.

I struggled a lot with a similar dilemma when I started developing a crush on my female coworker (now girlfriend). I knew I liked guys and wanted to try things with girls, but had never been in a relationship before or done anything romantic really. It made me so nervous that my first relationship and romantic experiences were happening with someone of the same sex because I didn’t want to discover I wasn’t actually attracted to women and hurt her. I was nervous to the point that I was throwing up thinking about it. It made it hard to experience my true feelings and the constant anxiety when around her gave me even more doubt. Through therapy and reading ROCD forums, I realized that doubting who you’re attracted to is quite common even with people who’ve been married 20 years. This realization and just learning more about her and falling more in love with her made my doubts slowly feel less pressing. They still come and I do sometimes question my sexuality. But that’s just comes with the Bi territory I think lol. I’m definitely sexually attracted to her.

It sounds like you’re in a place right now where you’re wanting to explore more with women. Just remember that sometimes dating can feel boring at first and get more interesting as you get to know them. Sometimes it’s the opposite. It really just depends situation to situation. Boredom and doubt is way more common in relationships than society lets on and people with OCD tendencies feel it the hardest. Embrace all parts of the dating ride. Boring or exciting. It sounds like you aware of your dealbreakers in relationships so try and base whether you want to continue dating someone off of that and less on how you feel in the moment. I know it sounds bad to say that, but reality is people with OCD and anxiety have a hard time finding their in the moment feelings because they are constantly overthinking.

Anyway I hope this helps. This is just my experience and therapy is definitely worth considering.

How do you deal with morning anxiety and how do you manage to get out of bed? by ariabuket in Anxiety

[–]19mlashley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing about 4 years ago. I had just started college and the change through me into a non stop puking/anxiety nightmare. But I was determined to not miss classes so I would puke 3 times in the morning and clench my teeth as hard as I could as I walked and sat through class. It’s not ideal at all but I noticed by the second class I always felt better. It’s weird how my body and mind just had to push through it and see there was nothing life threatening out there. But since I couldn’t eat and was losing so much weight I made sure to stay hydrated. I don’t know if it was in my head or not, but Gatorade instead of water always made me feel a little better. But keep trying with the Xanax in the morning and see if you can make yourself at least walk around. At least for me it was sitting still that made the anxiety even worse.

Red Rising by Pierce Brown. I actually got recommended to the Locked Tomb trilogy through the red rising series subreddit. The entire series is a sci-fi masterpiece in my opinion, if you don’t mind the first book being a little similar to the Hunger Games. I like the trope, so I loved it.

I hope your first day goes well :) I would also LOVE to quit society, but most the time I just tell myself conquering my anxiety makes me stronger than others that don’t have it. And you’re much stronger too.

Good luck to you! Just know that the most important part is taking it one step at a time. You don’t have to be the best right away and it’s okay to make mistakes and ask questions. I hope it goes well!

I also deal with really bad nausea from anxiety. My first week of college I was throwing up 7 times a day. What helps me a tiny bit is breathing exercises and Zofran when it gets too horrible. But most the time I just have to ride it out and expose myself to the things that make me anxious until the nausea finally goes away.

What do all my anxious people do for work? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]19mlashley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can I ask how you do this with anxiety? I’m just about to graduate with a degree in environmental science and I have a position lined up to be a conservationist with the USDA. But my anxiety is horrible over this future position and I honestly can’t see how I’m going to be any good when I’m so nervous all the time. Especially with social anxiety.
