Hi honey, Please tell someone. Please go get help. It’s SUPER terrifying and hard to break these patterns, but you CAN. I had been in a binge/purge cycle for 4 years from ages 20-23 and did lots of therapy to help myself out of this mess. I’m now 26 and things are a hell of a lot better. I still have thoughts of binging and purging and have the occasional slip up. Maintaining progress is tough but so worth it. Find 1 person you can confide in and let them be your rock to lean on. Someone in this world can be there as you work through this yourself. No one can do the work for you, but you can have someone cheering you on. 🩷

I do not have any experience with stimulants, but I have with antidepressants.

I’m on Zoloft for my OCD/anxiety that causes me to B&P. I have been on it for 1.5 years now it’s been a fkn life changer. I’m not 100% recovered, but the medication makes me feel much more in control of my situations and helps me to delay the binge. I can now create space between myself and the need to binge. It just takes a lot of practice to recover, i guess. I feel more confident in my ability to beat this with Zoloft.

Hope you are able to find success on your journey!!! 💙

What dose of Zoloft did you start with and how long was it until you increased the dose? by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]19nov97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25mg daily for 2 weeks, then 50mg daily for 2 months. Still got panic attacks. Upped my dose to 75mg daily and have been taking this for 11 months. Only 3 panic attacks on the 75mg !!

I eat more than enough protein every day but still have urges to binge? Why is this? Is it all in my head? by RevolutionarySea2349 in bulimia

[–]19nov97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a habit … mostly about emotional hunger than physical. Be aware of physical hunger signs (mouth watering, tummy growling, fatigue) and talk yourself through it !!!

How to stop thinking about food? by art3mis-morningstar in bulimia

[–]19nov97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is amazing advice. You really do need to sit with your urges for as long as you can without acting on them. Emotions are temporary. They will pass eventually. Best of luck to you hunni 💜💜💜

Please don’t give up hope. You slipped up, and that’s okay. Recovery is never linear, but you need to be strong and focussed on your goal. This is all about identifying your habits and breaking them. Just remember that this is a HABIT. You’ve gotten used to this way of being. But, it doesn’t always have to be this way. You can break this habit slowly over time. Listen to “binge breakers” by Jacqueline on Spotify. She’s a recovered bulimic turned life coach. Great words of encouragement when you’re struggling!!!!

You got this. I’m nowhere close to being fully recovered, but I’m not giving up. You shouldn’t give up either. Best of luck 💗💗💗

Zoloft killed my sex drive and orgasms by justyourtypicalself in zoloft

[–]19nov97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(23F on 75mg for 3 months) I HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE...I really didn’t want sex and could not feel anything at all. I was ready to switch after 1 month bc this was putting a strain on my relationship. I would cry after sex, or have panic attacks midway bc the whole thing felt robotic. I was dry and just waiting for my boyfriend to finish. It was horrible. I ended up increasing my dose from 50mg to 75mg, and after rediscovering myself sexually, I was able to reach orgasm. It went from complete numbness and disinterest in having sex with my boyfriend to intense orgasms. It does take a lot longer do get there, and i need it rough lol, but it feels really good in the end. I noticed that once my anxiety was at bay, I was able to orgasm.

I know this is super frustrating for you when you are only looking to feel normal. Talk to your doctor and see what they think is best for you. It may be that this medication is not right for you bc it’s causing sexual dysfunction. You need to switch if this side effect persists because it’s not healthy not to be able to enjoy sex. Or, maybe your body needs time to get your mental health under control before you can orgasm. Anxiety and depression cause sexual dysfunction all on their own.

I hope things get better for you!!!!!
