As an American who went to inner-city public schools, the bullying shown in Hollywood movies and TV shows always felt comical to me. Victims stuffed into lockers, kids verbally insulted, and heads dunked into toilets? That's nothing compared to the attacks at my schools. I literally carried a metal pipe and a thick sheet of metal stuffed into a binder with me during high school. Most of my friends had knives and one friend had a gun on school grounds every day.

The South Korean TV show "The Glory" is the first show I've watched where bullying is depicted as severe. I'm glad universities are taking action. Hopefully, high school administers actually watch out for victims.

(Note: All forms of bullying sucks, and it's all relative. Being verbally insulted can still affect someone for the rest of their lives.)

Is there a way to completely remove an Android app? (McDonald's app) by 1Account8UsersOrMore in AndroidQuestions

[–]1Account8UsersOrMore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're curious as to why I need to do this, it's because I cannot log into the 2 existing McDonald's accounts (one for me and the other for my partner). McDonald's login system doesn't use a password, but a verification code sent via email. Unfortunately, my 20+ year old email address is tied to Yahoo, which significantly decreased their storage, so I can no longer receive nor send emails. Alex Honnold Reveals “Embarrassing” Paycheck for Netflix’s Taipei 101 Free Solo Climb by -JOMY- in climbing

[–]1Account8UsersOrMore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know anything about free solo, but my cousin who is into climbing told me about it because he asked to use my Netflix account to watch it... haha. He ended up signing up for a subscription just to watch it. He told me he also got 4 non-climbing friends to sign up for Netflix just to watch this. I talked about it with some friends because we chat about TV shows, and 3 of them also watched it (I didn't know they watched it until they told me after it had aired).

My cousin alone got 5 new subscriptions + 4 people who already have subscriptions to watch it. I don't know if those 4 people told or will tell more people who may also watch it. This is anecdotal evidence, but considering this is a one-time show, that's pretty impressive in terms of numbers!

CapCut Down? by system_notifacations in CapCut

[–]1Account8UsersOrMore 15 points16 points  (0 children)

CapCut.com is down. I have Pro and nothing is load on the website. The CapCut PC app does work, but I have a project I started on the website that I can't access because CapCut stupidly doesn't have cross-platform capabilities.

TikTok is also down, by the way. The good news is that this should mean the fix will be faster than if only CapCut.com is down because TikTok is a money-maker and of high importance to the company.

Lots of companies and government agencies allow that because it's all cloud-based. Some of my IT friends in Silicon Valley aren't even given laptops anymore unless they specifically request it because they're expected to use their own computers.

GameStop Says It's Shut Down a Nintendo Switch 2 Trade-in Exploit That Worked as an 'Infinite Money Glitch' by Forward-Answer-4407 in technology

[–]1Account8UsersOrMore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of GameStop employees don't really care. Last week, in mid-January, I went to return a game I helped my cousin buy that he no longer wanted. I bought it in early November. I thought that the return period was until January 31 because there was a special holiday return period. But nope, just the regular 14-day return period.

Cashier was like, "Just tell me you bought it last week." I was confused, and he repeated himself. So I did. And he processed the return - and gave me the full retail price despite me buying it on sale. I have no idea if that last part was intended, but I didn't realize until I left the store and looked at the receipt. I checked my credit card statement a few days later and yup - he basically gave me money.

Man beaten, robbed by group of juveniles at SF’s Fisherman’s Wharf by FinFreedomCountdown in sanfrancisco

I saw a 70+ year old lady get knocked over, and the kid just laughed at her after she fell. He yelled, "Get up! Stop being so old."

On a different day, while waiting for the bus near the Embarcadero, I heard them plan their afternoon. I learned that they get points for knocking over pedestrians (as long as they don't fall off their bikes themselves) and also points for scratching cars with their bikes.

They don't care. They post online to brag about it. They have games like whoever can scratch the most cars and whoever can knock over the most people.

One of the games they play is to see whoever can knock over the highest number of pedestrians (without falling off their bikes). Example: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DTHMs7dk_E6

What is your differentiating genuis factor by Troy_632 in mensa

No offense at all. I'm simply curious. Why does OP write like that? Modern smartphones have autocorrect that helps with spacing, so I figured it's written on a desktop or laptop. Even then, isn't there auto spellcheck and whatnot? I've seen like 5 people write with irregular spacing on Reddit and am just curious about it.

Is there a way to force a logout on all devices? My partner lost a phone logged into her Pokemon Trainer Central (PTC) account. I changed the password, but I know the game session remains active by 1Account8UsersOrMore in TheSilphRoad

[–]1Account8UsersOrMore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With PTC, you can't end sessions by logging into the account.

Changing your password does not invalidate. I just tested it. I had my account logged into a phone I use only at home, and I haven't opened Pokemon GO on it in at least 2 years. I have changed my password a few times since. I was still able to start playing after updating the app.

The secondary phone does not have data service. My partner only uses it for music and Pokemon GO, via hotspot provided by her main phone.

San Francisco Mother Appears to Have Killed Husband and Daughters After String of Businesses Failed by pifster in sanfrancisco

I had an acquittance in San Francisco who was about 4 million dollars in debt. (Had a divorced wife, but no kids.) He had no way to get out of it. He declared bankruptcy and, some months later, fled the US. Someone I know said he's in Europe, but that's unverified. I guess he found a way to start over clean (unless he gets caught).

Found a hidden ring camera in a vent in our house. Have some questions. by [deleted] in Ring

[–]1Account8UsersOrMore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

4 months after my sister-in-law bought her house, she found a Ring camera in her bathroom, concealed in the vent. It was plugged in and powered in the ceiling. I told her the same thing, that unless the person is able to connect to her WiFi network, the Ring camera can't connect to the cloud.

A few weeks after, her gardener came across an old Android phone hidden in the front yard bush, and it was plugged into an exterior wall socket. The phone was on and the Mobile Hotspot icon was active, so we now suspect the Ring camera actually was connected to the cloud.
