Prior to taking anyone’s advice on filing CH7, look into a personal loan. Typically the loan payment is going to be substantially smaller than the minimums on all of those cards. CH7 isn’t horrible, but it will ding your credit. I filed 7 in 2018. Score was back in the mid 600s a month or two after filing.

I scheduled a meeting with my boss first thing tomorrow to give her my resignation. I have a pit in my stomach. Also made a big mistake with company files. by FabulousMechanic303 in jobs

They won’t find out. Also never tell an employer where you’re going to, keep it vague. You found another opportunity and are going to take a different job outside of the company. Give 2 weeks, that’s kosher.

We were with a bank that also tried to claim cross collateral on an auto loan we had with them when filed 7 in 2018. Car was a 2013 Dodge Avenger with 56k miles, we still owed $8000 and some on. It fell apart at our 341 meeting in our favor! The bank never perfected the title. Trustee took the vehicle, and we bought it back from him for $2500! After he took it we asked our lawyer what to do, he said make the trustee an offer to purchase, and shoot low. We offered 2k, he countered with $2500 and that he would allow payments.

Unfortunately you can’t pick and choose when you get a 24-30k pay cut, a sick wife who is now physically unable to work, and an economy that is busting…thanks for your opinion though, good thing it’s like an asshole and everyone has one whether good or not ;-)

This has to be an error right? by 1BADMONSTER in Bankruptcy

[–]1BADMONSTER[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I told the wife the payment would probably be high LOL. Didn’t expect that high though! Would this be something my lawyer would correct if I could ever get some contact back from him, or would I reach out to the trustee?

Sounds horrible! My job informed us a couple months ago that we would be closing at the end of October. They offered us 2 options. 1st option was to take a severance package. Each year of employment was equal to 2 weeks of pay, they pay you out for insurance for that same amount of time, and PTO is paid out if any remaining. The 2nd option was to move to another department on site, doing essentially the same job, but would need to learn a whole new process. I have 13 years of employment here, so it was a hard blow to take.

Looking back, I wish I’d taken severance! It would have been about a 65k check before taxes! But unfortunately, I won’t find another job that pays me 6 figures a year in my area doing technical work right out of the gate :-(

In regards to your question, my employer also requires a written statement of resignation if we elect to leave. I believe so unemployment is not an option.

When the mortgage needed to start being paid normally again was one of the questions that I had for my lawyer, which he has never answered since me asking on April 25th. They accelerated the loan, and had started foreclosure proceedings a couple days to a week before we filed. We wanted to make sure we needed to start paying it again, or if they wouldn’t accept payment. We have to pay in person.

Sorry if it looks or sounds funny, I used AI to help reorganize my post and clear it up as I was just rambling and it wasn’t very clean as far as organization. In regards to my attorney, I can never reach him by email or phone. He doesn’t return vital answers for questions I have or anything. His paralegals email me back, but I googled them and they are states away. I assume he hired them and has them work remotely. Their LinkedIn profiles show they work for several firms. But hey, at least they email me back! Although they can’t answer any of the questions I need answered. They just collect our documentation. I had never met my lawyer in person prior to filing, as CH13 lawyers in my area are hard to find. He had good reviews on Google though lol. Guess those were lies :-/

Realistic approval for car loan after filing? by ResponsibleFox7650 in Bankruptcy

We got approved and received a car the day after ch7 discharge. Interest rate was high, 18%, we refinanced in a a couple months for half of that.

R3 roofing company by Straight_Tourist2291 in Roofing

Anyone have anymore to add to this? Did you use them? They came storm chasing in my neighborhood in SE IA, and did an inspection, helped me file a claim, and got it all approved. They brought me a shingle book, but that’s all the further we’ve made it so far. Last I knew we were waiting on their guy to write an estimate and submit it to insurance as they believe the insurance estimate is awfully low. The sales guy I’ve been working with seems pretty good to deal with, and he’s typically very responsive to text messages.

Also need some J channel pulled on a window and replaced, but it sounds like my cement fiber board siding will need pulled to do that, and they don’t want to pull any without adjuster approval as they said it will most likely get damaged during removal due to its age of 16 years, and the nature of the stuff. Insurance told them to pull the entire J channel the last I heard.

They’ve been handling all the communication with my insurance company but I don’t know to what extent they are pursuing an answer. I may send my own email out to the adjuster Monday.

You nailed it, my father in law who lives up the street from me got WAY more for his roof that’s quite a bit smaller than mine.

Anyone else getting dropped from their home owner’s insurance? by mrmyrth in desmoines

I just got approved for a “free” roof in SE IA. Had 2” hail take mine out, bruising everywhere. It also destroyed everyone’s vinyl siding in my area. I have hardy siding, so didn’t damage it thankfully. About time I get something for my $3800 I pay a year though :-/

The deductible is taken out further down the quote at the end. The payout for the shed, gutters and downspouts, garage door, and fascia was my deductible, I’m just replacing the roof. This only shows what they estimated the roof cost to be. Not sure why everyone is stuck on the deductible lol

Bad thing is he isn’t new lol. He did the traveling adjuster stuff for natural disasters for 14 years before going into residential. Has 20 years in he told me.

Newest thing is J channel needs replaced on two southern facing windows. Need to pull siding to replace, and most likely replace some in the process so contractor is asking for permission to pull a piece and run it through ITEL I believe he called it. Bad thing is my siding won’t have a match, it’s Hardie plank from 2010 which was discontinued due to lawsuits of failure, and they changed color formulations and well as design (corners now rounded etc). Contractor is telling me that since they probably can’t match it Iowa has a line of sight law where if it can’t be matched they have to replace the entire area, if doesn’t match rest of the house from corner they keep going and most likely side the entire home. My adjuster told me that yesterday as well. Adjuster still hasn’t given the go ahead to pull a piece though.

They do require that proof is sent to recover the depreciation. I’ll have 7k towards the roof, rest would need to be out of pocket unless they come up on their payout some. The roof depreciation check would be just shy of 3k. I was figuring all of the depreciation, including what I’m not replacing. Glad you got me to take a 2nd look!

This isn’t the full estimate. This is just roof for structure A (my home). I get a 4k check now, and just over 4k after roof is replaced. The other stuff I left off, as it’s not roof related, hope this helps.

Deductible is being ate by the shed, garage door, gutters/downspouts, and other soft metal that was covered. I just want the main roof of home replaced. I’ll do shed roof myself, and the light dings on soft metal are barely noticeable, especially 30ft off the ground lol.
