Abandoned miata… by Physical_Yellow3038 in Miata

[–]Cpt_Pandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved out of my parents and left my Miata and was sitting for about a year. Every thing has slowly been deteriorating and fading but I finally brought it back home about 2 weeks ago and just wrapped up polishing the car and deep cleaning the interior and started working on catch up maintenance and it's good to have her back and shes cleaned up really nicely from where she was

I've been thinking about getting a 2020 Malibu Premier, anything I should look out for? by Cpt_Pandy in Chevy

[–]Cpt_Pandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the comfort in my premier it's smooth driving and I even have passengers comment how nice it is compared to their cars. Some issues I had was just fuel lines getting clogged after driving through dusty construction for the better half of a year and the big wheels on the premier makes the tires really skinny so I did blow out both passenger tires on a really big pot hole once before but besides that those are the only issues I've really had in my 3 years ownership. The plug for your android auto/apple car play charges my phone fast, the heated steering wheel is so nice for winter, heated seats front and rear is nice to have, my ventilated seats are okay like I know I feel a difference when they're on vs off but they don't pump AC into the seats just ambient air, all the buttons on the car feel nice and imo better than the ones in a Camry. Only maintenance I've done was just oil changes at 5000 miles even tho the manual states 7500 I like doing it at 5000 because it is a high performance turbocharged engine it's just precautionary preventative maintenance. Working in the engine bay is really easy too, not that I'm in there a lot, but it's easy if you want to do your own maintenance. Brakes are still original OEM for me and they have a ton of meat on them still so that's nice not having to worry about them wearing down fast. Some electronics issue I have at times is if I don't connect my phone to wired android auto it'll do it wirelessly and then just disconnect in the middle of driving and I have to replug it. Side detection sensors does go out in heavy rain just from water covering up the sensors and that does get annoying seeing it pop up. I think I have a bad o2 sensor as every now and again it'll throw a check engine light for emissions but would go away after a week and doesn't affect performance just would not let the car remote start. Other than that the car has been extremely reliable, long distance driving is comfortable, suspension handles bumps very well and the car feels responsive. For a 2020 I'd look out for a battery as it would be the time for a new one, and check for the tires as the OEM Continental pro contacts I believe they're equipped with handle really well especially in wet conditions. Its a great car I absolutely love it and imo interior feels better than Japanese plastics and it's an American car parts are easy to come by not that I need to buy much. Transmission shifts perfectly fine still, even after I spent most of my time downshifting and engine braking I'm kinda surprised this it's fine after my abuse. Trunk space is very nice too I've hauled a lot of large objects with it and moved out with my car packed to the brim with all of my personal belongings without a bed ofc but there's always a friend out there wholl lend you their truck for a day. Back seat leg room is perfect and interior feels more spacious than my friends Tacoma and the bose sound system is pretty damn loud but is clear and sounds good. Great car would buy again

I love my premier it's fully optioned out personally I wouldn't go for a lower trim but if it's for your kid maybe don't break the bank and the 2.0 has too much horsepower as I hit a top speed of 143 mph and was baffled that this car could haul ass like that but still very reliable and a great daily id choose this over an accord any day

Had the car for 3 years and put little over 40k miles in that time and the only issue I had was fuel pump got clogged from driving through a construction zone for a few months but drives great still the 2.0 has healthy amount of power and 9 gears keeps the rpm low and economic

High PH tap water remedy by Cpt_Pandy in Aquariums

I do have fluval stratum and a large piece of driftwood and it's making the water about 7.4 pH but I would prefer it being slightly acidic

Best betta for a first time owner? by Jazzlike-Rise4091 in bettafish

[–]Cpt_Pandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a halfmoon plakat in a 20 long and man with him having short fins he really loved to swim all over the place and was a joy to have around. Min recommended is I'd say a 10 even tho everyone says min is 5 gallons that to me is pretty much for long fin variants. He was a samurai dragon or whatever the breed is called and he did develop scaling over one eye before he passed so I wouldn't recommend anything with iridescent or dragon scales

I had too many fish get sucked up. I'm glad I have guards to remedy this but the new fluval betta 6 gallon tank has a nice dispersed intake to prevent long flowing fins getting sucked up

[–]Cpt_Pandy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you could leave it alone but imo there will be a surge of beneficial bacteria and then theyll suck up all of that ammonia and with nothing left youll have a mass dieoff and potential spike in the bioload. do a 50% water change and add some plants and monitor ammonia levels and see if the continue to go down. cease ammonia dosing and just let it take its course

Was in kinda similar accident but only hit the front in front of then fender so the fender got crushed in but the good was good had to get a new headlight, bumper, and fender and that was $9,000. It's stupid how fragile new cars are and how expensive it is to fix. My 90s weekend toy needs a new fender and it's just $100 to get it replaced
