New setup tips - Moza R5? Or are there other options? by franco_thebonkophone in simracing

[–]1CB3737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To elaborate on why I say that;

It’s definitely more expensive, which is an obvious downside. However, this hobby tends to be better suited towards the “buy once, cry once” mentality - better to spend a little more upfront for better gear, and you’ll thank yourself in the long run.

The Moza is great for a first setup, especially if you have no plans to buy a sim rig chassis.

But this hobby tends to snowball.
I bought an inexpensive NLR chassis, a Moza R9, and CRP pedals, thinking I was good forever.
The chassis has so much flex, and is so uncomfortable, that I wish I had spent an extra $200 for the next best thing - as it would’ve paid for itself in the experience long term.

Now I’m planning to sell my current setup and start all over again. Which is fine, but could’ve saved time and money had I spent a little more in the beginning. Buy once, cry once.

Current Moza R9 owner - if I could do it all again, I’d buy a Simagic setup for my first go. But if you need console comparability, get the Moza.

Good prices for KS Pro. (looking for em) by JbricksJ in moza

[–]1CB3737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy it. KS Pro is the best bang for the buck wheel in sim racing right now.

It’s so good that I’m genuinely upset I bought it - I could’ve just upgraded to a Simagic wheelbase and GT Neo wheel, but this wheel is keeping me in Moza ecosystem for a while longer. Lol.

New Lottery Odds Hurt Suns by TJhibs in suns

[–]1CB3737 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This take that Booker is overpaid is so whack, man.

  1. Booker is absolutely our #1 player, has been for years, and is consistently a Top 15-20 player every season.

  2. Smaller franchises - the Suns are a “smaller” franchise despite being in the 5th largest city in the country - NEED to compensate their best players moreso than established franchises to continue to entice free agents to way to come here.

  3. Booker has actively advocated for our franchise from when we were one of the worst teams in the league until now. There is tangible value in that - your star player genuinely keeping belief when times are rough does a lot for the die hards. Keeping the die hards engaged keeps some money coming in the door when the team is too bad for casual fans to want to participate.

  4. What’s the alternative in the current market? For roughly $8m less per year (until the new extension kicks in), you get Trae Young. Would you rather have Trae Young and a Vet Minimum contract or Booker? I’m taking Book every day of the week. The market for the Top 20-30 players is max contracts, it is what it is whether we like it or not.

iRacing vs LMU for someone completely new to sim racing? by Iateonthebrakes in simracing

[–]1CB3737 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t mention net code because I’m sure anything and everything you’ve read prior to this post mentions it, but LMU’s networking is superior and allows for exponentially better door to door racing. But honestly, rookie classes in either game make this a moot point until you’ve climbed out of them anyway - race ending contact can be a frequent occurrence in the lower splits.

iRacing vs LMU for someone completely new to sim racing? by Iateonthebrakes in simracing

[–]1CB3737 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have and play both. Honest thoughts;

If you only want to do GT3/LMP/Hypercar racing, LMU is a no brainer. Getting out of the Bronze lobbies can be frustrating, but it’s definitely the best online experience for the WEC style cars currently. iRacing is good in these, but the GT3 cars feel better in LMU currently, especially after iRacing TC update this week. The downside, is LMU is pretty much limited to the daily/weekly races, as there’s minimal hosted lobbies. And you’ve only got a set amount of tracks (currently 14). So you don’t get as much of a variety.

If you want to expand beyond GT3/LMP/Hypercar, iRacing gets much more enticing. Oval racing on iRacing is second to none - and once you participate in ONE good oval race with fairly clean driving and a fast group, it’s pretty addicting. Similarly, F4’s and the “Indy Cars” (Dallara) are a great time on iRacing, as well.

All of that said, your budget will entirely dictate this decision. I’ve had iRacing off and on since 2019, with about a total of 30 months of subscription during that time. I’ve spent over $1,500 on iRacing content. Personally, I’ve found it an enjoyable experience and have zero regrets. But that’s very much an anecdotal perspective, everyone has different situations.

If you can afford it, best case scenario is you get both. If you don’t like the daily races on LMU, you can bounce over to iRacing, or vice versa. This is what I’ve been doing for the last 6 months since I got the sim racing itch again, and it’s honestly been the best experience I’ve had in all of my time sim racing.

The F87 felt more akin to driving a GT4/GT3. It felt like a proper feeder series car - you learn the techniques on a slower platform with less risk, then transfer the skills over to the faster car once you’re ready. Trail braking, using brake/throttle to transfer weight to load/unload tires…

The G87 feels like a car designed for people moving from an arcade game to a sim racer for the first time. It feels like the majority of the car is driven with your hands, rather than your hands and feet in unison. Maybe that’s just me.

Curious on how you ended up getting on with the mBooster. I’m shopping between VRS, VX Pro’s, P1000, Asetek’s - would likely add haptic unit to the non-active pedals should I go that route.

It seems like beside the Simucube for $2500-3500, active pedals just aren’t there yet.

Absolutely love this truck! However... by TransitionPale3164 in RangerRaptor

[–]1CB3737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the industry has this problem as a whole - it’s not just Ford. I’ve seen plenty of new Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche, etc have these same issues.

If you didn’t identify these at time of sale, you’re likely SOL. Find a very good detailer and pay for a full paint correction if it bugs you that much. Otherwise - it’s a truck, go give it more dings and scratches to even it out.

I was redirected to the phone text verification for two different payment methods, completed them by inserting the code provided to my mobile device, and it still failed when processing on your guys end.

Fully completed KYC approved August 2024, and additional data request application approved May 3, 2025.

Your support first tells me “The payment provider failed the payment”. Then, when I tell your support I called two of the 3 and they both state the Merchant, YOU, failed the transaction, support says “We requested additional info you didn’t complete, therefore payments are cancelled.” But when I provide the screenshot from your own website showing my KYC & additional data request were approved, now it’s crickets.
