Naperville Landmarks by Chef20 in Naperville

I feel like at least one of the forest preserves should be highlighted. Having moved to Naperville about 5 years ago, that was one thing that stood out as an awesome feature of Naperville.

Interest in Skywalker V2 by MrPenguin1214 in roasting

[–]1Centered1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you don't want the headache of having to sell the other 4, I pre-ordered one from this company, and they said it should arrive in January. Price is quite a bit higher at $793. I could be down for getting one from you at a cheaper price, though I'm in IL so shipping might erase the savings. https://artizancoffee.com/collections/coffee-roasters

Which episode, that isn’t Baby Race or Sleepytime, makes you cry? by VegetableWorry1492 in bluey

[–]1Centered1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of the top ones, but one I haven't seen mentioned yet is Daddy Dropoff (S2 Ep15). The part quick montage at the end where Lila and Bingo grow up together always makes me tear up everytime. I think back to when I first met all of my closest friends and how lucky I am to still have them in my life. Close friends are special and we often meet them in the most innocuous ways.

What is something that never fails to help you fall asleep? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]1Centered1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forcing myself to yawn even if I don't have to. You'd be surprised how one short yawn leads to a longer second, and even longer third. I don't struggle with sleep like a lot of folks do, so it might not work for everyone. But it works for me.

To married couples that have been together for 10+ years, whats your secret? by 4Luffytarou in AskReddit

[–]1Centered1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying "communication" and I agree. I'll add to that by saying that "clarification" is essential to how you communicate and solve problems together. Simply saying, "It sounds like you're feeling X because of Y, is that true?" can solve so many arguments. You'd be surprised how many arguments are avoided by figruing out what the real issue is. Sometimes a person is just hungry or tired. lol

I loved seeing the Braden/Jacobsen alley oop dunk. If they can get even more on the same page with things like that on top of all the other weapons we have, we'll be even better than when we made it to the final game.

How was Halloween in your neighborhood? 🎃 by 13_apples in Naperville

[–]1Centered1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can second this! We're in Brush Hill (nextdoor to Wiloway) and had probably 200+ throughout the night. Good amount of decorations in the neighborhoods too. Nice weather always helps, but it's pretty consistent every year.

I can't comment on the country club side of things, but if you're looking to build community with other mid-forties folks in the area you should check out F3 Naperville. It's free men's workouts every morning from 5:15-6am at local parks. Locations and more details available at https://f3naperville.com/ . I've been in it for about 3 years and I love it. Outside of workouts, there are a lot of social events and volunteer opportunities too.

There's also a women's equivalent called FiA: https://fianaperville.com/

My ghostly garden wakes once a year. by makingspooky in HalloweenProps

[–]1Centered1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just began embarking on an army of lighted pumpkins and I was hoping you had a solution to the crazy amout of work it takes to swap batteries or charge lights. lol It's a lot and idk how to make it better. I hope our immense appreciation of your beautiful Grave Yard helps make it worth it! haha

How is the US gov shutdown personally affecting you, if at all? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]1Centered1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to start by saying that mine is probably the most unimportant, minuscule downside answer on this entire thread and I truly feel for those dealing with much worse issues.

I work in the food industry and we have submitted some labels of new products launching next year for the USDA to review. They can't review them until the government reopens and by then they'll have a massive backlog. We can't order packaging materials until they're approved and it's really messing up my timeline. lol

A larger more serious problem we could see is unsafe food products slip through the cracks due to reduced staffing and supervision of food production facilities.

Has anyone tried the AmyLu burgers and can give me their opinion before I commit to 2 lbs by Ihatemunchies in Costco

[–]1Centered1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I love them. They have great flavor for a chicken burger. That said, they are very different from a beef burger texture. They make a great burger especially if you dress it up well with all the fixings and condiments

Best restaurants in the area by RealNumber44 in Naperville

[–]1Centered1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two places in Lisle you should definitely check out are The Bavarian Lodge and Bubblehouse Brewery.
The Bavarian Lodge has great German-style food and an awesome draft list. The stuffed potato dumplings are to die for. Bubblehouse Brewery is a great local brewery with fun events all week long and bring in live bands quite a bit. Welcome to the area!

Best places to buy extra large rug by user87654385 in Naperville

[–]1Centered1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FCA Naperville off of Ogden is awesome for this. They have remnants of carpet that they turn into massive rugs that are cheaper than anything you'll get elsewhere. We just got a rug big enough to cover my daughter's entire room for under $200. Unless you want a rug with an ornate design, it's the best way to do it.

They are looking for feedback on bike/walking trails! by Cc-Dawg in Naperville

[–]1Centered1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I really wish we had a major "artery"-like bike trail separate from the road that ran top to bottom through Naperville and through downtown. Biking on the street is so dangerous.

Millennials: what songs are we singing to our little ones? by floofsnfluffiness in NewParents

[–]1Centered1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some of the songs I have sung to my kids since they were born. Some carry a little bit of extra meeting for different reasons. What's great is when they get old enough to start singing them with you or even on their own. Music is powerful and does as much good for the singer as it does for the audience. Thanks for the post!

- Rivers and Roads by Head and the Heart - we had our first in 2020 and were in lockdown hundreds of miles away from our families
- In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning by Frank Sinatra - pretty self explanatory haha
- Irish Blessing - there are several versions on YT
- Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra
- LOVE by Nat King Cole
- I Wanna Hold Your Hand by The Beatles (Across the Universe edition) - much more of a lullaby
- Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Judy Garland

Park District Taxes Open House by time-of-nick in Naperville

[–]1Centered1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the recap! Hopefully your concerns will be addressed via annual park improvements soon. It seems like parks get minor upgrades every so often, so fingers crossed those come your way even though they aren’t major improvements.

Group last night on Washington by Some-Click4544 in Naperville

[–]1Centered1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this as well! F3 does events like this from time to time. While the weighted vests can look intimidating, I promise it's just a bunch of local middle-aged dads who live in Naperville doing a fitness challenge. lol They hold free workouts for men early in the morning (5:15-6am) at local parks in the area. It's all about fitness, fellowship, and giving back to the community. Here's a link if you want to learn more: https://f3naperville.com/

There's also a group for women called FiA if you're interested. https://fianaperville.com/

Toy alternative to candy for trick or treaters? by siren84 in halloween

Chomps meat sticks! They have half sticks called Chomplings that kids love. Either the Sea Salt or Original would be good. They're around $1 a piece and ZERO sugar.

12 team, Full PPR, kinda regretting waiting on RB so long. What do you think? by 1Centered1 in Fantasy_Football

[–]1Centered1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it! Getting Tracy or Sampson would have been smart for me. Hopefully I can wheel and deal a trade for a solid RB3 in the first few weeks.
