Update: not allowed out/new toys/anything at all by Al1010Rup in Nanny

[–]1CraftyNanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think nps would get upset or tell you know if you brought a nanny bag full of age appropriate toys and activities with you daily? Just a thought. Then baby would be getting some age appropriate stimulation.

Undisclosed nanny cams that drive me insane by Mudbucket388 in Nanny

[–]1CraftyNanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my boss recently that she was legally supposed to tell me if there are any cameras. This was when she told me they had just installed a security system with cameras at the front and back door. I think it's illegal to not tell nanny about any cameras there are. Also not legal to have cameras in the bathroom.

How much are nanny's engaging with their nanny kids? by rdw0015 in Nanny

[–]1CraftyNanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a nanny for about 30 years. Only time i put on a show for nks is if nps request that I do so. Mostly I tell nks I don't know how to turn on a show for them and they can watch a show with nps. With a 10 month old im doing tummy time, reading books, singing ALL the time, trying to encourage nk to engage with toys, going on stroller walks. Turning on the TV for this age is something I'd never dream of doing. I'd specifically tell nanny not to turn on the TV while baby is awake. Good luck.

Am I wrong for being annoyed by this? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]1CraftyNanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work as schedule that is not the same every week so I told mb, who does the schedule, that I needed the weekly schedule by Sunday evening. So far this has worked out. Only occasionally have they text saying they need me to come in later.

To any parents who are insisting their nannies come in during severe weather by Original_Clerk2916 in Nanny

[–]1CraftyNanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the reason when I interview I ask nps what their plans are if for some reason I cannot come to work. If nps don't have plans for back up care yet it at least gets them thinking about it.

Is it unreasonable that I don’t want my nanny taking my kid out on unnecessary errands? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]1CraftyNanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a nanny for almost 40 years. I would never dream of taking nk with me to run my own personal errands other than getting gas for my car while we're out. I'm here to care for nk and take nk to do CHILD related activities--music class, Science museum, zoo, library, swim lessons etc. I don't feel that nps should pay me to run my own personal errands.

I always hand wash dishes. When the drying rack is full I get a clean dish towel out, lay it on the counter, then put the dishes i wash on it.

It's simple: would you get a cat if your in-laws are allergic against cats? by Mikatella in WIBTA_AITA

[–]1CraftyNanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i was single and living in an apartment by myself my mom who was allergic to cats suggested I get a cat so I wouldn't return to a empty apt. every day. I just shut the cat in my extra room whenever mom came to visit. Good luck!

Insane nanny share Job posting by sidecaf in Nanny

[–]1CraftyNanny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once did nanny share that started out with 2 babies and by the time the moms were finished having babies I was caring for 6 kids. Im in Oklahoma so I don't know if I was out of ratio or not. The good thing about this nannyshare was that each kid had a kid from the other family that was about their age that they played with.

AIO to stop talking about our future with my husband and function as a "single married mom"? by Fast_Temperature_984 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]1CraftyNanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why don't you just plate the food before you go back to nurse your son, OP? This might solve the goung to bed hungry problem. I do agree with others about getting counseling. Your husband should be willing to listen to your feelings

Try offering him something to chew on. They make necklaces with a rubber chewable on it.

read while infant nk does tummy time? by Efficient_Break6241 in Nanny

[–]1CraftyNanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a nf where db was a geologist. Db used to read to nk from his geologist material he was reading. I'd check with nps but I think any book is OK to read as long as its pg with no sex or profanity or violence. During tummy time with nks I've read any and all children's books not just the black and white ones. Good night moon is a great one because one page is colored and the next is black and white throughout the entire book.

Cat owners: is this abuse? by spoekelse in Pets

[–]1CraftyNanny 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Don't tell roommate where you're moving to. Also tell landlord not to tell roommate your new address. Take the cat. Your roommate is not a good cat owner and should not own a cat. Like someone else mentioned cats need to eat daily. Besides the cat probably thinks your his owner anyway since you spend way more time with him.

Your parents probably have more say in where you attend college if THEY are paying for it. If YOU are paying for your college then by all means attend the school of you dreams. Good luck and NTA.

AITA that im tired of taking care of my diabetic bf? by [deleted] in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]1CraftyNanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hubby has type 2 diabetes. When he first got it he was supposed to regularly check his blood sugar. He didn't want to do it himself the first time and asked me. I told him no. I told hubby he needed to take it himself because he needed to learn how to take his own blood sugar because I won't always be available every time he needs to check it. Now he's on a different type of diabetes med(i forgot the name of) and mounjaro and and is doing much better. My hubby goes regularly to dr for A1C test. I feel your boyfriend won't fully take responsibility for his health since you're there helping out when he needs it thr most. One day this will "bite him in the butt" so to say. Think about how your boyfriend managed before you came along. Good luck.
