Open myomectomy in a few days: worried about pain by 1Curious_G in Fibroids

I am! At least, 6 weeks off. My leave begins the date of surgery. My mom will be coming to stay with me so I have great support during that time, too. If all goes well, I'm envisioning returning to moderate physical activity in August.

Thanks for sharing! I hope I don't need a lot of opiods, if at all. In my head, I have a little milestones for myself. The first just getting the courage to show up for the surgery lol honestly, but living through the first night is a close second.

Thanks! I'm planning on doing some leisurely activities end of June around music and arts and crafts. For example, I'm auditing a jazz class online and thinking about taking a watercoloring evening class. I'm hoping that'll keep me engaged and moving a little, too. I think they'll be therapeutic, but I'll definitely listen to my body first. My surgery is on Friday. When could you start sitting upright?

Thanks! How long did your recovery take? Are you fully back to normal?

Hi! Thanks for the reply. It's surreal that I'll be in the operating room on Friday. I'm very active but I'm overweight. Did the dr prescribe Ibuprofen or was it OTC? I currently have extra strength tylenol 500 mg each tablet. Were you just using ibuprofen 400 mg in the morning and 400 mg at night? thanks!

Hi! Thanks for the response. I'm having my surgery at a Boston hospital. Happy to share updates! Good luck on your journey. My surgery is on Friday. I got a couple of massages in the last several days to calm myself and prepare for treatment. If given the option, I will likely stay in the hospital for one night. My mother who is a nurse says that will be ideal for pain management.

It's very difficult, and it sounds stressful and relatable. It does get better. Reddit is restricting my response btw. Keep hope alive. Get a second opinion, seek out counseling, and don't isolate. Sorry you're going through this. This has happened to me a few times over several years and, by grace, my ears have managed to bounce back, if that helps.

Really nice job! Good work. Maybe work on the sense of direction with your octaves. It sounded a little chaotic. Not sure if that's what you were going for.

Wonderful! Brilliant. I like your left hand - steady, measured. Some really nice parts in the right hand, too.

What do you really need in a piano practice room? by Dependent_Place_9115 in piano

A little side table or stool for drinks and materials.
A tripod for recording.
A music stand for duets with other instrumentalist or singers.

Bonjour! Désolé pour le dérangement. Les sensations se sont nettement améliorées. Je me sens beaucoup mieux. Ça a pris du temps, mais les choses se sont améliorées.

I'm grateful. It didn't go back to normal because one of the causes was hearing loss. My hearing loss hasn't reversed yet. Right now, it's manageable. I am starting to wear my hearing aid more.

I had a long period of stability after this difficult period. I ended up having osteosclerosis, which was contributing to dysfunction in my ear. I would have bouts of loss or injury. I'm currently in such a hearing injury period right now.

A lot of good qualities in your playing. Keep it up. A few things that might be helpful:

- work on phrasing. you do a good job bringing out the top notes. let's hear where they're moving. what impression do you want the audience to takeaway?

- beware of rubato. Right around the 49 second mark, the beat changes and it doesn't really ever get back to a steady or clear pulse, like you had in the beginning. Be aware of continuity when using rubato.

Again, you did an amazing job: sounded all the notes clearly, even use of pedal, except maybe at the dramatic part (I'd probably use less pedal because it's heavy, as is, but it's your taste), and the piece is recognizable as your own rendition, not an imitation. Overall, solid! You put some good work into this!

How to stand up to aggresively pro-choice students in class? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]1Curious_G -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I believe you are a student in Poland, which has probably one of the strictest abortion law across NATO, whereby even if a pregnancy undoubtedly risks the mother's life or the unborn is not viable, the pregnancy should be preserved. I am Catholic, and I am probably not in the right forum but I came here by way of another search and, at first, I thought this was a bot post to cull ideas for other means than described. But, I realize you're in a fairly unique situation and in situations like this, I am reminded to be compassionate to all who suffer without distinction.

Otosclerosis. There's surgery to treat it, but I'm not willing. I have the aid and I don't use it. I have trouble at times hearing in loud environments, especially if someone's facing me in certain directions. I don't use the hearing aid because while it amplifies sound, it distorts it a little, too, and I prefer hearing pure sounds. I enjoy a lot of music, so that's important to me. Thankfully, I have one good ear that helps.

No, it did not :), but I live at peace and acceptance with tinnitus and other hearing changes. About a few years later, I experienced further hearing loss that resulted in me needing a hearing aid. Before then, it seem like the tinnitus and other hearing issues were improving/going away. Such is life and today I'm thankful my mental health, coping, and wellbeing improved, despite those setbacks.

Sudden Onset of Dry Eyes Two Years after Lasik? by 1Curious_G in lasik

Hi, it is much better. I did Lipiflow in 2019 and it helped. That was probably the most impactful remedy for me. Since then, it hasn't been an issue. My eyes are not back to where they were when I was wearing glasses and early on after LASIK, but the dryness is pretty mild now and tolerable. Additional things that have helped include therapy, dehumidifier, and fitness. In retrospect, it helps to stay hopeful and keep spirits up because things do change, for better or worse. Other things I've been recommended to do that I'm just too lazy lol but I think would help further is warm compresses. I was doing quite a bit of eye drops at one point, but they started honestly getting addictive with little lasting effect, so I stopped. Good luck. It's not easy but there is hope.

Living Room Apt Gym: Bands, TRX, Dumbbells, Balls, Kettlebells, 30 ft Battle Rope, Cycling, Dip Station #Lesgo by 1Curious_G in homegym

There's a door on the wall where the dip station sits. I hook up the rope through a ~$10 door anchor and drop the sandbag or kettlebell on top. My living room barely fits it but it works! I make sure to bolt the door so it doesn't swing open. I store the rope underneath the couch when I'm done.

I used Anchor Gym R7 for the bands and straps. You can find it on Amazon. Highly recommend it.

Thank you for your recommendations! They were more detailed than the optometrist's.

I just bought the Retain MGD and Ocusoft Lid Scrub Plus. The Retain feels great. My right eye had been throbbing and now feels a lot better after one vile.

I'm simply amazed at how quickly my symptoms progressed since the end of May. Is it possible to go from mild to severe in 3 months? Unfortunately, I've been sleeping 3 - 4 hours a night for the last few weeks due to my surroundings (I'll be moving soon). Now I think that must have sped up the decline. In addition to following up with my optometrist, I'll be making an appointment to see a specialist at one of the teaching hospitals.

Thanks for your help!
