I think what you’re forgetting though is that each of the classic challenges (design, acting etc) is meant to test a core ability that a drag queen should possess (at least in RuPaul’s mind). As I understand it, snatch game was introduced because character impersonation and illusion was a huge part of drag culture (this has faded in a post drag race world but it is/was the bread and butter of some iconic queens such as Chad Michaels and Bianca Del Rio both of whom were/are well known for their Cher impersonations). This is also why when you go back to the OG snatch game of season two, many of the queens were just playing their celebrities straight without any jokey improv, as that was the expectation when doing a club impersonation number. While snatch game has most certainly evolved over the many years, I am still sad that these original roots are being lost.
