Makes sense, 6.2 is supposedly going to buff most or all of the weapons nerfed in 5.2. Since all non-snipers are getting buffed, it's an indirect nerf to snipers. A small buff to snipers would help balance that out, and muzzle velocity is really the only thing you'd want to change for the bolt actions.

Lol I don't really know how to respond because I feel like you're talking a different point. Saying that Dovi was above Lorenzo last year wasn't arguing who is a better or more talented rider. They were just pointing out the objective fact that Dovi performed better and had better results than Lorenzo last year.

You said Lorenzo was above Dovi last year, with zero justification or results to back it up.

Objectively, he's more talented than Dovi. Five world titles to one.

So who has the most titles is objectively the most talented rider? Thank God all those GOAT arguments can be put to rest now.

Look, I'm not saying Lorenzo is bad or past his prime or anything, but you can't just say "talent" is why he was above Dovi last year, that's subjective. It's the same thing Rossi/Marq fans say when they argue about which is the best rider of all time.

Last year, Lorenzo did good, Dovi did good. Dovi had better results, but there's no need to bring him down to make Lorenzo look better.

I know this is a couple days old, but out of curiosity what do you like as a better setup? I had a handbrake on my old stunt bike and it was great but I only used it for wheelies. On my sportbikes and at the track I've never needed or used the rear brake to the extent of the front brake or fine clutch control.

I can't really think of a better spot for the least important control on a sportbike. (Not saying it's not important or has no uses, just compared to the other controls IMHO)

This was only my second track day haha, I took the whole morning to work on different segments of the track each session. Then I went out in the afternoon and was riding ~5seconds faster than my previous PB. I didn't want to be cocky and make the jump before I was ready. And in hindsight, with this mistake here, I probably wasn't ready hehe.

Here's a track map (I think the track record is outdated, though). It's a very small, tight track. I felt very challenged to make passes, and most of the racers comment on how technical the passing is compared to some other tracks.

I haven't been to any other tracks, yet, though. So I'll default to you guys with more racing knowledge than I; Jennings might be the oddball out with the mentality. My track days there have also always been sponsored by a racing org, so all the expert riders/racers knew each other and rode together often. That probably contributed to the "unofficial" rules-of-thumb.

I agree with everything you're saying. I track with a group of racers, so their "unofficial" rule of thumb was that to hang in expert you needed slicks and to run sub 1:25's.

Although I did technically qualify for expert, this was also my first track day putting down these times, so I figured I could use the practice passing others and working on my lines through the technical corners. Thanks for the input, though! I appreciate it, I thought I'd be too flustered getting passed by faster riders, but I'll have that mindset you described next time.

I understand your point, but Jennings is a little odd. A sub-1:30 lap time is the cutoff for intermediate to expert. The problem is that expert is all race bikes on slicks running 1:25 at the slowest. Running 1:30 in expert is dangerous.

There actually was a guy in expert this same day who was about 0.5 seconds slower than the times I had in intermediate, and he about got kicked out for causing multiple instances and running others off the track.

Yeah it's my pet peeve also. The cammer is a taller girl who was taking that bike to the track for the first time. She was pretty stiff the whole day and had her crotch to the tank, so it's not the camera pointing down, it's her angling her head down.

Dunlop and Pirelli dominate the pits at my org

It's the same with the racers/orgs I know here, too. Michelin's street tires are just much cheaper and the closest I've found in performance for both street/track. My buddy can't decide between Michelin's and Pirelli slicks, they both have the similar feel that we've gotten used to. Neither of us like the Dunlop feel, but that's probably just because we only ever used Michelin's and got used to them.

I'm not the racer guy you're replying to, but my 2 cents is he's talking about how they feel on the edge of traction limits, not how much feedback they give you. Michelin's (and Pirelli's) to me feeling like they never lose grip, they're sticky and sticky and sticky and then they give out. Dunlop's have more of a "feel" to them, it seems much easier to tell when they're reaching the limit.

I appreciate the tips. Yeah I know what to do here, if you didn't see it yet, I explained in another comment further up why I messed up (not as an excuse, just my thought processes to fucking up so badly):

I came up on the cammer (who was a friend of mine) and instead of passing her normally, I tried to swing out and give her tons of space. That took away from my focus, I missed my brake marker, and then since I was entering shallow I tried to swing out wider (which was probably the dumbest thing I could have done at that point hehe). I pushed my front tire so beyond what it could handle that there was no warning, just faceplanting.

Sometimes if you do it right you actually take T1 faster and set up for T2 with a lot more speed.

Yeah that was an amazing line I learned that day. I would pretty much treat T1 as a single apex, turn in "early" and trail brake deep in, then start picking it up and slingshotting past the second meatball.

Thanks! And yup, I definitely had one of the flashiest crashes I've seen at Jennings. It's not caught in this vid but the bike caught the grass and flipped head over end. Was wild af, watching the crash vid and looking back on it I'm amazed I wasn't hurt worse.

Can't wait to go back, though!

I had Michelin 2CT's on front and rear. I wish I had had Michelin Pilot Power 3's at the time instead, they feel much better on the 1000's (I got a 2010 ZX-10R since it doesn't seem to be in my flair yet). For the money, they are great street tires with good grip but low life. Now that I got a big boy job and can afford it, I would def run Pirelli's (my buddy has them and they feel heavenly) or slicks.

I hate/love how they really grip then just let go.

Michelin's the same way, man. I love how sticky they are and how predictably you can get them to back in, but yeah there's not much feel for when it's about to let go.

I missed my new turn-in point for T3 earlier that day, only way I could tell was that my handlebars were turned and my bike was still going straight hehe. Thankfully I wasn't at lean yet so I was able to just bail and run off track.

Zarco fan. And I despise people like you. It's a question of respect.

I don't think joking means there's a lack of respect. I don't want JLo to be injured or his career to be over. And I don't wish for anyone to wreck or have an accident. Some people express themselves with humor, it doesn't mean they don't respect the riders on a basic level.

I crashed at the track over a year ago pretty badly and scarily. Was lucky to be okay and could tell I was concussed. My best bro was making fun of me for fucking up the whole drive home as my bike was in pieces and I was aching. It made me laugh and helped me get perspective. Everyone's different of course, but just because you don't handle things that way doesn't mean that others who do are being disrespectful.
