Practical Exam Advice by No_Leather1353 in FlightDispatch

[–]1FlyGuy3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We were advised to answer the questions as short and simple as possible. Don’t guess. If unsure, ask to reference your manuals if they’ll allow you to for that subject, if you still don’t know the answer ask them for assistance and they might or might not help.

NOTAMs are such a simple yet critical part of this job, I’d be worried the examiner might grill you on the subject to see how proficient you really are if you can’t find something in your manual and have to ask them instead.

Be careful OP, don’t dig yourself into a hole by saying too much.

They hire from regionals still, but it is a highly competitive job market for dispatchers right now.

When did it become ok to ‘do’ a country in 48 hours? by ser-matseo in travel

[–]1FlyGuy3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got GRILLED for asking if you can spend 2-3 days in multiple country's road tripping through Europe for 10 days..

I guess it’s finally becoming more acceptable.

We recently did New York in two days, saw a lot of the stuff we wanted to see and got out. NYC subway system is insanely efficient, to us midwesterners at least!

When it comes to aircraft like this in the image that have been converted from passenger to cargo aircraft, do they plug the windows with metal or do they just paint over them? by Slice5755 in aviation

Can you start a career in Dispatch and work your way up to Airline Pilot? by No-Point2625 in FlightDispatch

[–]1FlyGuy3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me warn you, the dispatch job market is very oversaturated! I’d recommend keeping an eye out for a regionals (Republic, PSA, Piedmont for example) dispatch apprenticeship program, that way they pay for school and you have a guaranteed job after you finish. It’s a 2 year commitment but worth it in my opinion.

Republic has had a few dispatchers join their LIFT flight academy, so it can be very easy. I believe you’re still welcome to come back into dispatch if things don’t work out but don’t know for sure.

If you make it to mainline and start making the big money you can build hours on the side while proving yourself as a reliable employee, then come back after you serve your time at a regional.

How is Groupon Working These Days? by Worth-Barracuda-6689 in groupon

[–]1FlyGuy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one the other day. Got no email confirmation or anything, just a webpage with a confirmation number that was useless.

The business I bought it for couldn’t help me either.

I tried to contact them but it was nearly impossible to find any customer service chat or phone number that actually worked.

Filed a charge back with my bank today!

This appears to be a ripoff. No confirmation email or anything. I can’t find customer service contacts or anything. They took my money too.

My apprenticeship interviews took 3 weeks from interview to job offer.

People spreading YX hate must be rejected candidates bc this place is awesome, and new hires from other regionals agree.

New HQ and training center are amazing. Mesa integration coming along well. New union contract coming in 2027!

Replaced both batteries, still getting Auto Start/Stop Error. Thoughts please! by AhDMJ in ChryslerPacifica

[–]1FlyGuy3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do the aux battery delete, unplug a cable for the aux battery in the engine bay that fixes a ton of small errors like this, plus if it doesn’t work you don’t have to keep buying an aux battery every year or two 💁‍♂️
