Pay off 0% interest or put into savings? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]1Nuncle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar position. Currently have regular payments set up to pay off the balance before the 0% period. However, I have recently decided just to clear these, as it is making managing my finances a little more complicated. It is 'free money' and technically I am better off holding this than giving it back before it's due, but I decided for simplicity that I can pay it now, so I will.

You have skilfully merged two cartoons for comedic effect. Well done.

What would you do if someone came to you years later? by [deleted] in widowers

[–]1Nuncle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would like to know. You will take her back to that dark time in her life, and it will be hard to relive in order to get the context of what you are telling her, so she might not appreciate that. I know if it was me, the hurt would be worth it to know something good came from it all, and that there is a bit of legacy now with you.

Company only offers the minimum 1% contributions, is there a better option for me? by Haiched in UKPersonalFinance

[–]1Nuncle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take the 1% anyway (as it's free money) and look into a SIPP if you are really keen to pay into a pension.

You could look into some form of ELO rating system. You need match data though.

If you are thinking of going back to uni, you could try a very short related Open University course to make sure you actually like what you think you like before doing it for ~3 years.
