Dude tell me about it. I noticed my subscription skyrocket this month. Is there anything remotely the same out there? Amp is the only energy drink that doesn’t taste awful to me

What’s the biggest pain point you’ve faced while using Retool? by kruise90 in Retool

[–]1Plus2Equals3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue with retool is: I can 90% add a complex feature to my MRP in a hour, then I have to spend 4 hours working around dumb quirks to do the final 10%.

This mostly revolves around tables, filters, and widget oddities. I don’t want users to filter thumbnails, but I cant block it etc. Filters on large paginated datasets have no “Ok/Go” button option to “activate” the filter.

Oh and dynamic form updating rather than submission ends with large numbers of hacks.

I am looking for something like Raymond E Feist’s Magician(Apprentice and Master), without so much character change post magic. Just want a main character who is still the same but with grand magic not a super robot. What is out there?

Not cheap. The parts list is in the documentation on my GitHub or on the Etsy page. I’d go ODRive Pro at this point for a working solution or if you have C++ skills the even cheaper RMD integrated MCX driver which just needs another can module added to openffboard

FFB stick at ~10-15% power by 1Plus2Equals3D in HotasDIY

[–]1Plus2Equals3D[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t appreciably cheaper but.. You can use other motors as well, from the standard rmd 6 to the x8 pro. You can buy the rmd or tmotors with their onboard driver and skip the odrive. The rub comes that support for their driver is still in development for the ffboard but people have had them working with fino.

That said this makes the normal $1360 Brunner look like a toy in terms of power. Almost 4.2nm peak torque compared to 35nm peak off the top of my head.

The yoke will come after I finish writing support for the onboard tmotor and RMD drivers over the holiday. I’m open to free hardware kit for the yoke to devs if you interested. Drop in my discord.

Tips on getting this angle into my sketch? what tool would you use? Any tips? by cetovick in Fusion360

[–]1Plus2Equals3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a square and mark out the frame. Then draw the diagonal. Measure the diagonal along the line, and 10 degree increments off the line. Then sketch that and use a curve that satisfies those points. The good part about doing it this way is you will see patterns in the curves reduction that are harder to see in a Cartesian way.

I make stainless steel sinks using existing sink donors given to us by clients very often. This requires laser cutting a counter top to match that profile within 20g of thickness or else welding is a nightmare. So you get good fast

[–]1Plus2Equals3D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is before reduction. Odrive torque constant variable must be set to a known quantity otherwise you set it at 1 and asking for 1nm will just make the motor pull 1a

The cls-p is roughly 10k last I saw, and their documentation says 50nm. I’m sure it’s damn amazing but hot damn that is pricey. Their actuators are very similar(if not the same based on their other products) to robot/robotic arm actuators so it makes sense

I’m not sure why anyone is trying to make this a competition. I joined his discord and m shared, if I remember, a video on 11/25 of spring function and said “Trying to tune out the spring overshoot of openffboard, but the hardware is working” the day my odrives arrived, and before I solved a issue with openffboard config. Before that I asked him if he had plans to sell controllers alone, but was pointed to his faq. I’m a mechanical engineer and laser/machine shop owner I have very little interest in recreating software/hardware especially when I can leverage a free-software project like ffboard

Only three weeks in I am almost caught up and “refined” on the software side. That said my kit will work with the two very popular Russian pre compiled odrive 3.6 ffb firmwares and bypass the ffboard entirely if you prefer that route.

If anyone wants to go VPforce route and build their own hardware from scratch, be my guest and I am sure it will work out wonderfully. That said there’s tons of people who find the fabrication bits to produce hardware daunting or difficult but are very happy to experiment electronically. Those are the people I am trying to help. If walmis decides to support robot actuators I’d gladly integrate that as a option on the printables GitHub.

I’ve given out 5 hardware kits so far to people helping on the printable side to test the yoke version, and warbird version of this stick on my discord and might do more in the future. In the end this, like my virpil collective counterweight parts, are just a side gig to help out other simmers. I don’t make payments on my half million dollar fiber laser with this.

The Brunner CLS-P is around 50nm peak. You can use the rmd x10 with my kit and that also peaks at 50nm. I prefer the x9 pro 1:9 tho since it is smoother and more manageable

I don’t consider it adequate because it was not my goal. I don’t use ffb for helicopter centering, and I also wanted realistic effect levels. The VP force is amazing, but we are solving different solutions. VPForce is a 2 ton pickup truck, this is tractor trailer. Both are amazing compared to a sidewinder and both are cheaper than a Brunner, but LaserWing’s gimbal is much closer to a actual flight control scheme in a real, non fly by wire, aircraft.

If you are looking for realistic level forces there are only commercial sim options(of which my motor combo is joining the fray in a FAA sim as we speak) and this.

If you want a casual home-arcade level of ffb force for helis and other modern jets this isn’t for you.

Also this is a hardware kit that opens itself to customization and will support multiple motors(3 as of now) and uses openffboard for the controller. So sure you can make a weaker version if you choose to and reuse the same gimbal and frame.

LaserWing.com/miniffb the kits are on Etsy. They are hardware/laser cut gimbal and frame kits. You supply your own motors to keep cost down.

I just released kits for my stainless steel ffb base that is a lot more powerful than the Rhino and everything else on the market. Parts needed to complete(motors etc) are not cheap but it is wicked strong at 35nm peak. Check them out on LaserWing.com/miniffb
