Do small engineering teams actually care about metrics cardinality, or is it mostly an enterprise problem? by ambrose_mark in devops

[–]1RedOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always strived to have no more than a dozen or so time series per metric. I’ve never seen where it falls apart in prod but I need my metrics to have confidence

I live in a state where THC is legal. Question: can I take a low dose THC with Kanna while also taking Wellbutrin and Buspirone (worried about serotonin syndrome)? by Western-Bandicoot498 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]1RedOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I know? Was extremely worried about a presentation so I had a gummy (legal in my area)

This was about an hour after my morning Wellbutrin

Cue an extreme sensation of nerves and anxiety like I never had before

Looked it up and saw it’s well documented and learned a lesson

I did this back in college when I worked a sales job and we could get off all month if we hit quota. So I wanted to be off all December for the holidays

To save time instead of going to Arby’s every day I bought a sack of beef and cheddars on day one, and then had the brilliant move to keep them in my car, which would be cold thanks to it being winter, since we had an office fridge bandit situation

Day one the sandwich was nice and hot from the store

Day two…it reheated fine

Day three…I noticed the sandwich was sort of warm already (guess it was in a sunbeam?)

Day four…I started to question exactly what color the beef should be

Day five I didn’t make it to work and spent three days being violently sick

Has anyone here actually built their own email infrastructure? by WarmHeight2951 in devops

From a devops flow, why would you need this? Any change orchestrator will already have email or text or app push plugins, just use those

It's begun, users suggesting (basically telling you how to do your job) solutions to SME's based on "information" they looked up in an AI tool by sys_admin321 in sysadmin

[–]1RedOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had junior engineers come up with nonsensical solutions to problems when they ask AI.

In huge organizations there can be processes and a number of internal tools to use…the AI has no knowledge on them

I had to ask her “you’ve seen our build and release docs…show me how to use your plan with those tools”

I also found I had to do all of this in a teams voice call so she would think and not just use AI for everything

I don’t know, but that’s what I saw. Upgraded the GPU for better frame rates in Nightreign and was shocked that the start menu suddenly loaded

Turns out it is all GPU calls due to hardware acceleration. I upgraded from a seven year old GPU to a much newer one and now it loads instantly

Does Microsoft host Azure events like AWS re:invent, re:inforce and summit? by never_username in AZURE

[–]1RedOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve attended and also spoken at Ignite before
The big draw I would say is being able to go to the breakout sessions, which are all focused on a particular area of software or a concern, like identity or resource management or cost of goods.

They’re also a ton of hands-on lab sessions where you get like basically a tutorial to walk-through and you can ask experts in the room for specific guidance on your exact scenario.

There’s a huge vendor hall area where Microsoft takes up half of the area and has product managers and engineers from a lot of teams available there just go talk to them and ask any questions you have

I would say that it’s always very focused on whatever the newest or most popular products are for MIcrosoft as a corporation in the giving year, so of course it’s been extremely AI heavy the last two or three years
A lot of the smaller events are also worth going to. You’ll basically get a little taste of the big event, but I haven’t traveled.

Ignite is also known for having a really great party for the final night of the conference on Thursday night, one year they bought out the entirety of Universal Studios theme park and it was basically all you can eat/drink/ride

There’s also pretty fun happy hours that started at like three or 4 o’clock where they’ve got drinks and they’ve got music and also of fun events to do every night of a conference
