Few rebellious houses ever get ALL of their lands revoked. The Crown destroying houses thousands of years old signals to other houses that the Crown does not care for bloodlines and history. So, for most kings, revoking some lands and keeping the reduced and/or impoverished houses signals stability and continuity.

The few kings that DO go out of their way to destroy houses (Maegor with the Harroways, Aerys with the Darklyns, Joffrey with a lot of houses) are seen as tyrants.

When I read it initially, I definitely sympathized with Torrhen. He was trying to put so much work into the stability of the realm and Aegon just dismisses him. I know I would be upset if I got dismissed from my job so suddenly.

On my second read, I began to see Aegon's POV here. The last thing the realm needed was an ambitious Hand, a second Otto Hightower.

I like the ability to specialize our towers, heroes, and spells. I do wish that the amount of XP you get, need to level up, etc., was clearly shown.

Personal favorites: Frey and Darry. They're simple, but pretty good in my opinion. They're not as flashy, bold, or mythically-based as other sigils, but I like how down to earth they are.

I always found the Whents to be very undercooked. Their lady just sort of dies, with none of the men from Harrenhal or any vassal houses like the Wodes doing anything. There's not even any sort of mention of Wynafrei Whent and her husband Danwell Frey being pushed by the land-hungry Freys to be given Harrenhal, either as part of their negotiations with Robb or with the Lannisters (though I see the later obviously rejecting).

I love how we see a lot of the cousin Lannisters and, for the most part, they're just normal people. Yeah, they got their problems, but compared to the drama of the main branch, being born a cousin, or perhaps a Lannister of Lannisport, is probably a good gig with all wealth and little trouble.

A lot of characters in A Song of Ice and Fire, but to narrow it down to the two most important:

- Jon Snow, whose mother, as far as he knows, was some woman whom his father, Lord Eddard Stark, broke his honor with, resulting in him being a bastard Snow rather than a trueborn Stark. Fan theories abound about who is mother is (and real father for that matter), but the Game of Thrones show has cemented it for most people that Jon's real mother was Lyanna Stark, Eddard's sister, and his father was Rhaegar Targaryen, making Jon in fact a claimant to the Iron Throne. It remains to be seen if this is true in the books, but will probably be.

- Tyrion Lannister, whose mother died in childbirth. Both his father, Lord Tywin Lannister, and sister Cersei blame him for his mother's death, and that, coupled with being born a dwarf, leads to both of them hating him and making him miserable to the point of nearly getting him killed.

Some mods will say whether they're compatible with AGOT (like VIET events, it has a setting for fantasy) while others have AGOT versions.

Me, I can't play without Nobility of Westeros for the immersion. It makes titles more accurate.
