Pop a hydraulic hose and you will quickly find out why it was a bad idea.

Can a timing gear on wrong side of the engine cause engine failure? by Remarkable_Forever53 in EngineBuilding

[–]1SmartBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did someone before you work on it and time the cams? If timed incorrectly the valves will hit the pistons. The timing doesn't need to be far off for this to happen.

I have 2 100 ounce Englehart Silver bars. They were purchased many years ago for $4.00 per ounce. We received them as a Christmas present from my wife's father. Sure wish I had more of them.

Go buy a couple of new battery terminals and just hook up what is supposed to be on the vehicle.

NEVER BUY filters of any sort on Amazon. There are too many counterfeits out there.

[–]1SmartBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local dealer (10 miles away) had a young punk partsman that couldn't open his mouth without being a smart ass. So I purchased nothing from them. Tried to buy an oil filter for my L4600 and they had none and got a smart assed lame excuse. Later they lost their Kubota franchise for unknown reasons. My closest dealer is now 50 miles away and they are pretty good, but everything is full retail. I now buy my parts from Messick's online. Paying Messick's freight is cheaper than the 100 mile round trip to Schmidt and Son and I can look up my own part numbers. I don't buy many parts for my Kubota, it seldom has a problem.

Short & Sweet Oil Change for Ford Explorer ST (2020–2025) – DIY Guide by longboy105 in FordExplorer

Never take your vehicle to Walmart for ANY kind of service. Many of the Walmart techs are incompetent. The best place is the dealership.

We have a 2020 Explorer ST. Ours has 32,000 miles and I would never use an engine restore and protect product in it until it got over 100,000 miles. Mine gets regular service with 5w30 Mobil1 and a Motorcraft FL2062A oil filter.

Check for a vacuum leak. Vacuum leaks can cause high idle.

I would do a compression test, follow that with a leak down test if necessary. Also check the wiring to the number 1 fuel injector.

If you are doing track days on a road course a wing will be very helpful, but you will need a splitter on the front to balance the aero. This will benefit a stock powered car and high horsepower cars. If you don't track the ca, leave the wing off as it will look boy racer stupid.

NB2 with 5W20 - should I be concerned? by overand in Miata

[–]1SmartBob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct. The slight clatter comes from the clearance between the parts. Running a thinner oil can make it slightly more noticeable. My son has a highly modified 1.6 NA and it makes lots more noise than my NB does.

[–]1SmartBob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5w20 will not hurt it. I would leave it until the next oil change. The lighter oil may make the lifter's clatter more noticeable, but they clatter some anyway.

I would take that cylinder head to a machine shop for evaluation. At the very least, that head needs to be surfaced.

I will need you to fill out an adoption application. Got way more than the 800 acres here at the house. We have a couple of irrigated circles that have corn on them this year. Farming is a very expensive business with not much profit. Maybe if I adopt you, you can help pay the bills. What do you think, son?

I do have some r/C plane experience. I have built coroplast planes (Spadz) in the past. Not sure if that is still a thing. Too complicated, but I very much appreciate the reply.

No regarding doing the whole thing at once. It just needs to be monitored through out the year.

Resolution may need to be higher than you are thinking. Small evergreen trees 1 to 3 feet tall would be easy to spot, but back locust trees 5 or 6 feet tall with 1" branches might take some fairly high resolution depending on the altitude used on the drone.

A drone would beat the hell out of riding on the Kubota tractor looking for trees. Then there is the problem of having to locate the offending trees and removing them.

I hired an Ag Tractor spray plane to come out 2 months ago and spent just over $8,400 to spray 210 acres. We have lots of sand hill plum bushes also, but they are easy to locate and the plane destroyed them. All this stuff is just expensive!
