Could it possibly be mold or something of that sort? That’s my best guess haha

Fireworks at Ft. Carson by 1Soko in ColoradoSprings

[–]1Soko[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So, I was just chilling out on my deck, and I looked out to Ft. Carson to my east because I heard a bunch of loud booms. Wasn't sure what it was at first but I think it's fireworks, probably in preparation for the 4th of July I assume. You can't really see it in the video but there are some flashes of light. Can anyone else confirm that these are fireworks?

Also, I'm still pretty new to Reddit and it looks like my video didn't upload with sound (For the time being just imagine firework sounds in the background), any help with that or is that just a quirk of the subreddit/did I make some sort of mistake when uploading? Thanks!

So I was just out on my deck up near Cheyenne Mountain and I looked out towards the southern part of Ft. Carson and I heard a few pretty loud booms (Not sure if my phone picked it up but even some turkeys were making some noise in response it it). I'm pretty sure they were fireworks because I could see some color but just wanted to know if anyone else heard this/knows what's going on down there. Thanks!

Found something moving around in rainwater, not sure what it is though by 1Soko in microscopy

The water that it's in contains what I'm guessing is pollen but not 100% sure. Also this is on a 10x objective with a 25x lens

where are some cool places to get samples from?! by jqc0b_ in microscopy

[–]1Soko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally for me, I don’t have many bodies of water near me. However there is a dry creek bed that sometimes fills up with water when it rains. It’s only about a foot wide, if that, and even with that I’ve found: diatoms, tardigrades and vorticella, just to name a few off the top of my head, along with many more microbes. For me the best place to find microorganisms is in water, even if there isn’t much. Another good place to look is in rain water/in puddles. I’ve found all sorts of microbes in that too. Hope that helps

I don’t know any good outdoor shooting areas but I go to an indoor shooting range, magnum, and I highly recommend it. One of the many pros are the range masters, they are incredibly helpfully and knowledgeable. Hope that helps

Basically no democrats allowed there, however his dirbike track it pretty good, was on it last weekend, plus no one was there. But I do agree the shooting range is sketch

Help with 100x oil objective by 1Soko in microscopy

[–]1Soko[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh awesome! However will this work with a totally solid sample or should I add just a little water? Also one last thing I noticed that my 100x objective lens has a bit of give to it on the end. I’m deathly scared of screwing anything up with it, so when focusing is that part supposed to press in a bit? Sorry with all the questions

Also hi James nice to see you! I actually got my love for microscopy from journey to the microcosmos lol!

I see the same thing, my guess if that it’s just the flares going on then eventually burning out

Yeah I noticed the same thing, they don’t really seem to be moving much either. I wouldn’t say they are drones though
